Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes daughter just had a birthday. They shelled out over $100000.00 for their little girls birthday. Now the questions are:
1. Would you ever have a birthday like that if you had the money of course?
2. What are your thoughts on a birthday party for a little girl or boy (that probably won't even remember it)?
3. Have you ever gone to a birthday that was a little too much?
4. If you have what kinds of things/food etc was at this party?

1. YES. Only if it means I can make more money out of that birthday - like invite some big dudes and help seal a certain deal and that sort of thing. If not, then I'm better of building a school.
2. The party is for the little child's memory and for his/her future. They're establishing his/her place in society as "someone important" and therefore maintain good connections with other rich dude's kids.
3. I've never been to a party THAT extravagant. Not my social circle.
4. I make sure that there'd be cirque de solei (or however you spell the last word)

What would be significant for a one year old to even enjoy or be entertained by Cirque De Soleil?

Hi there Nichole. Let me see now:
1. Would you ever have a birthday like that if you had the money of course?
No, i don't think so much money should be spent on an occasion like this because i am thinking that the kid would always expect such parties for her birthday from there on.
2. What are your thoughts on a birthday party for a little girl or boy (that probably won't even remember it)? I think that it should be something nice, with a cake and family, perhaps his / her friends if he has any, and of course pictures taken, so that when he / she grows older you can show him / her them.
3. Have you ever gone to a birthday that was a little too much? I must admit i have not, as i don't have wealthy friends

Of course if someone had that kind of money they would spend it in a big way to celebrate their birthday. But to throw such a birthday for a 1 year old just doesn't make any sense. What would happen if Tom and Katie lost all their money and had nothing. Cake, close family and friends would be sufficent enough on a 1st birthday.

Most birthdays for 1 and 2 year olds isn't for the kids. It's for the parents. Tom Cruise is just showing off again for all his friends. I can't imagine any party costing that much unless it was for charity and a huge guest list.

I think that is the problem. Need to show off what they got. Thanks for your response.

I think that is ridiculous, even though they are millionaires, there is no need to spend that much money. All kids need on their birthday is love and close friends and family around to spend it with them. Some kids you can spend so much on them and they get overwhelmed by it all. I have never been to any birthdays that I thought was a little too much. Most kids parties I have been too are just at McDonalds or celebrated at their house. I like to have my kids parties at the park near the beach, cheap, and good fun for the kids to run around and play.

I totally agree with you. I have been too a few extravagant parties and it was crazy and insane. I just sat back and said "are they really even aware of what is going on?"

Although they're celebrities and they are expected to hold an extravagant party like that I still think that it's too much especially if it's for a children party.
If I have lots of money at my disposal, I won't spend a LOT just for a birthday party, I am happy already with a cake and icecream and the people who are dear to me during that special day

Just because they are celebritites doesn't mean that they should go and throw an extravagant party and specially for a 1 year old. That is just a little overboard. They really aren't having the party for the child but for themselves. Thanks for your response.

Even if she is not going to remember what even happens on that 1st birthday. The one that was thrown in my discussion was basically for the parents and they invited their rich wealthy friends. Honestly I would wait till the child gets older so that they can truly enjoy their birthday and remember it.

I think that is money wasted for any birthday, I don't even think bill gates should spend that kind of money on his birthday. Your right the little girl is much to young to know what is going on. I lived in the ghetto all my life, most of the kids never even had a birthday party. My son always had one, and it was costing me 40.00 the max.

I think that this is a little too much for a kids party. It is the same as these sweet 16 parties that I am seeing on television that the kids get rock stars and stuff at their parties and the parents are spending a fortune on a party. It just shows that parents are the ones who are causing the children to act the way they do and be spoiled and think that they don't have to work to get things in life. It is insane!!
I believe a small party is more appropriate and cake and ice cream is fine for the food to be served.

Yes I have watched some of the Sweet 16 Birthdays on TV. And I do have to tell you that some are them are pretty crazy. With the money that (these normal nobodys sort of speak) are spending on their daughters birthday. I seen one that this girl was so spoiled and demanded and whined to her mom left right and center. I would honestly of been ashamed to see myself act like that for the world to see. I hate people like that.

She wont have had a clue whats going on really she certainly wont remember it will she. It seems like a real waste of money to me im sure theres plenty of decent things that money could have been spent on as she got older, but I suppose when money isnt an issue you dont think about it.

Yes that is very true. I wonder what Tom and Katie are going to do in the years to come and as she gets older and is more aware of what is going on.
