I do Do you use lotion or baby oil to help keep the area smooth and soft? What type of razor works best? How do you cut down on the red bumps?

Wash with antibacterial soap, then rinse in cool water before shaving, this helps cut down on the bumps. Myself, I don't shave, just trim every month after my monthly visitor!

This is what my doctor told me when I use to shave. It takes out the bacteria that gets under your skin when you shave causing the itch and bumps! I don't shave anymore because that hair is there for a reason!

The thing is to use hair conditioner. It works. Why let the hair grow back? I like the clean feeling. I usually shave my area at least twice a week. Sometimes more if I think I'm gonna get lucky-LOL

I use conditioner as well to shave and a Venus razor. (a little more expensive but they last a bit longer and i dont cut myself as often on my legs with them) Shaving with the hair growth cuts down on the bumps...shaving against i found doesnt get as smooth. After shaving i use the aveno sensitive skin lotions I read somewhere that the more swipes you take at an area the more likely you are to get the red bumps.

shaving with hair conditioner works. Yes I read that some where too many swipes will do that but you want it smooth too. LOL

I have just read all the posts and might have to try conditioner!! Never heard of using deodorant down there!!! Its amazing what you learn! I myself dont shave but I trim using a razor. I dont use any lotions or potions!

Trimming is easier and alot less headach. Once you start shaving you cant stop-at least when I did stop the hair coming back in would itch like crazy-LOL But perhaps with the conditioner it might not be so bad letting it go sometimes-hum.

i don't really shave, i just trim the hair in my private area. shaving is time-comsuming while trimming only takes a couple of minutes. i use conditioner to soften the hair.

I just wanted to give another vote for using hair conditioner to shave down there. Another thing that has helped me with keeping down the ingrown hairs and itchy red bumps is to scrub and exfoliate the area really well before shaving. I usually use a lotion or body butter on afterwards too, but not always.

4 votes conditioner. Never thought about exfoliating that area. I'll try anything once or twice. Thank you.
