My Computer Is Killing Me

I can't stand it anymore. I'm throwing my computer out the window, going back to snail mail, land line telephones and hey I'm on your door step, invite me in for coffee and let's chat. I am not computer savvy and no matter what I do I can't perform the simplest tasks. So here are my questions. All answers and suggestions, not only welcome, but necessary if I am to continue to be here. 1. How do I upload pics to my profile? I can't find a link anywhere. 2. Is it me (of course it is!), or are the mylot pages loading slow? It takes an average of 2 minutes for me to go from page to page. 3. Why can't I stay connected to my server? I've cleared my histories, caches etc. I've downloaded Google Web Accelerator. I've done everything I can think of. 4. Why won't my gmail load without losing an hour every morning to get it going? I've done everything Google/gmail said to do and still, it's hurry up and wait. 5. Is it possible trolls are living in my browser and screwing with me?

I wonder Sparks if your battery is dying? You have a lithium battery on your motherboard, and strange things will often happen when it starts going out. mylot has been slow today. So that is not you. i do not trust that web accelerator at all..... Are you on DSL or dial up?

Hey Angel - I have a Gateway laptop. There is a long lithium battery in the bottom top end. I have just removed it, as I am on AC power all the time. Do I need to keep it in my computer all the time? The battery is fully charged. Last summer I had a brandnew motherboard put in, so shouldn't it be ok? Glad that it's mylot and not me that's slow today, although it's been taking forever to load for weeks now. Is it your best advice to remove the accelerator? It doesn't seem to be helping anyway. My computer is wireless high speed - is that like DSL? See? Told you I wasn't computer savvy! LOL Thanks for all your help Angel. I look forward to more of your expertise.

So where are you if you are on my doorstep? I need someone to chat to, with, at, whatever. Do you not know how hard it is to be a schizophrenic single parent to a 50 year old 12 year old boy. You and all your fancy computer talk. Googling this and accelerating that. I don't have to resort to blooming computers. Like this note to you. Sent via Her Majesty's wonderful postal service. I just popped it in the box and there it goes. All the way to Sparky's house. I'll get the coffee. Ruby ate all the Bourbons and the toast. Grrr. Never mind, hope that you like custard creams. "Yes coming Matron. Am I hearing voices again? Nooo. But I am talking to a very nice lady on the doorstep. She doesn't want to borrow sugar. I'll have my medication now. No, not the electric shock treatment again. Oh all right then. That's a funny place to put the electrodes......."

Why won't you invite me in????? It's not polite to leave a guest ( even if they are unwanted ) on your doorstep for 5 hours! I know....you probably think I'm stalking you , but honestly....... " Oh Crap !!!! " It's the cops - " gotta go ! "

I do not think yours is a hardware issue. I would clean my hard drives deleting all the unnecessary/temporary files. Besides I would spend few more hours to run virus/spyware/adware scanning program. If nothing improves the situation, I would be considering formatting hard drive (C:/) after ensuring rock-solid backup. Since you are not so computer savvy why not seek for assistance from your friends who would take a look at your PC?

I am not sure if you have tried a program called CCleaner. It has helped me in the past to clean up unused files on my computer. It made my computer run faster. It removes files from programs that you have uninstalled from your computer. You might want to try it out. www.ccleaner.com

Your welcome. I hope things are starting to go better for you. I use ccleaner whenever my computer starts to slow down and have never had a problem with it yet.

Thanks Jen. I just used it and things are moving much faster. I'm a little concerned about all the files that got deleted and losing all my cookies, but I can reload as I need to.

Help - My computer is killing me, help me please
All question you are asking is too simple to be answered, but the question here is that do you have a slow connection and are you using old laptop or computer? All of your problem will be resolved when you buy new computer and get a DSL connection as well. dial-up connection is really a headache, don't hesitate to contact me cuz I'm willing to help. Just go to my profile if you want to contact me.

1. go to upload pics and then hit browse and then go to where you have your pics that you want to upload stored on your computer. 2. No it's not always you sometimes mylot just loads super slow when they are doing things to the mylot thingy. Gosh I'm so descriptive. 3.Well I'm not sure why it is such an issue .. LOL!! That my dear you would have to talk to my other half about. grrr. 4. Maybe you just need a newer computer with more ram and other good stuff. LOL!! when I picked my lap top out I made sure that it was adequite for gaming and for school work. grr. 5. Hey anything is possible .. But if so please make sure you go throught the proper legal channels to evict them I would hate to wake up and see you on the peoples court one afternoon because they want to move back into your browser or they want you to fork out cash for relocation.

I tried the picture thing and it still won't work. Perhaps because my pics are jpg? Should I downsize them? Mylot seems to be faster tonight, so that's a bonus. Maybe I'll get to respond to your discussions now! LOL I have lots of ram and bells and whistles on this computer, but I really really want an Apple now. LOL As for ending up on People's Court - Judge Judy here I come, but I'll be suing the trolls! ROFL

Geez, I have dial up and I have none of those problems. I am no help whatsoever. Have you been able to delete the Trojan Horses yet?

You're right - you are no help whatsoever! ROFL Still have the horses, but they seem to be sleeping and can stay that way. My mouse now has a dinosaur for an icon, and lo and behold, things are working fine now! LOL

You can go into your programs and change the appearance of a lot of your applications. So instead of having a boring old arrow for showing where my mouse is, I have a dinosaur I move around. He's so cute! LOL
