Gas shortages in rural areas and the like...

I watch the bbc, not nbc, faux, abc, or the other American channels. I actually like to know the truth of the world, even though I know a lot do not follow the journalistic code that we are meant to. As I was watching tonight it was funny because they were talking about how gas stations were running out of gas and some of the pumps are closed down in certain areas in the UK and Ireland and surrounding areas. That is not what was funny, the comment that came out of the reporters mouth was this..."It is ok, we have enough petro to last till the middle of next month." So for all my friends in the UK and where ever else there are shortages...It is a good thing, you have petro at least until next month. Ainge

Most of the shortages are caused by a truck drivers strike and not a poor fuel supply Ainge. Gas is very expensive here - about $8 a gallon. There is no shortage down here in the south of the country, yet. Last time that the drivers went on strike there was nationwide shortage. What was interesting was just how quickly our whole economy started to grind to a halt. Not only did people struggle top get to work, but food was limited due to a fewer deliveries, everything including gas and electricity was affected. I confess that I found a pleasant side to it all. We were forced to slow down and eat what we had. Choice was severely reduced. People actually became nicer to each other.

You mean your strike actually worked, they tried it here for our truckers. I think that they should go on strike again nationwide to get the point across of the prices, yes we would be affected, but so would the Governments. I too am with you on the pleasant side of things, I do believe it would help the consuming issues we have. Ainge

I very much agree. However remember, there is oil at least until next month. I am still shaking my head, that is like NASA saying, "There is an asteroid headed our way...but it is ok it will show up in a few hours." Ainge

You're kidding! You mean after next month I will see more people travelling on foot or bicycle here in the UK? Actually, it's sad to hear news like this. I don't really watch TVs and my source of information is myLot or the newspaper. I have read a couple of days ago that petrol has gone up so much. But the government is rationalizing that by 2010, the petrol would still be cheaper than it was in 1999. I wonder how it will be cheaper if there will be no more petrol by middle of next month. Could be free because there will be no more petrol to sell or buy.

Thank you for your response. I laughed when I read it. The UK is encouraging exercise, I think that is the best way to look at it. Ainge

Well, worrying about it won't fill up the tank anyway. So yea, why not try to relax and have some fun for the moment. "Tomorrow is another day, I'll worry about it tomorrow" Scarlet O'Hara, Gone with the Wind
