Just when you think you have heard it all, they come out with braces for dogs. Now I think that the person who came up with this idea is pretty clever. I will not say what I think of someone who would spend $2000 on doggy braces. This is a complete waste of money. I like to see them try to get braces on a cat? What do you think?

Really? Is this true?? Well, true or not I just cant imagine my dog having like human braces with the colors and stuff. It would be weird. If he ahs it all he needs is a pair of glasses, and some books then I think he''l be ready for school!LOL Yeah, I think it is a waste of money and I think the dog will have more dental problems because of the plaque that will get stuck in those braces. Why do they need corrective braces anyway? Well, except maybe the dog I saw on tv who cant close his mouth properly because of a stubborn tooth. They didnt give him braces, they pulled out the teeth altogether. Now thats an easy and fast solution. Another interesting trivia learned here on mylot. Keep 'em comin people cause I love to read random facts at unexpected times.^_^

Yes, it is definitely true. I heard the story twice last night on the channel nine news. I was so shocked, I just kept saying it over and over again. Apparently they are using the braces to avoid having to pull the tooth somehow. I think that they are going to put them on puppies. I can not imagine any animal with braces.

Puppies! Wouldnt you think that that would just stop the normal growth of their teeth? I guess its ok if the dog really badly needs it, otherwise why not just leave the dog teeth alone? It has been fine without braces for years. And you're right, braces on animals is jsut plain weird and definitely mostly unecessary.

That is something I have never heard of before!! I can't believe that someone came up with that. lol I guess if they actually are making them, then there must be some people who actually buy them! I love my pets, but I definitely couldn't justify spending money on something like that! Somehow I doubt that a dog would be too concerned about how their teeth look, as long as they can use them! lol I can't imagine an animal would react very well to having braces put in either. They'd probably just be mad to suddenly have metal in their mouths, lol.

I know they would have to definitely get use to it. I believe they said the reason they are giving them the braces is to keep from having to pull their teeth. All I know is that is a lot of trouble and money to go through for any pooch.

I'd have to say it would depend on the severity of the teeth. How bad are they? If the dog has one or two teeth that are not so perfect, then I think it's not only ridiculous, but also very uncomfortable and not so nice for the dog. However, if the teeth are so bad that they are affecting his health or eating...something like that to where straightening his teeth would actually improve the dogs life, then go for it. I have a small dog with a tooth that sticks out ever so slightly and the vet said I should really get it pulled now before it gets worse. Ummm, I don't think so. If it gets worse, and affects him in some way, then I'll do it. However, I am not about to pull out my dogs tooth now when he is not bothered by it at all. You have to wonder about some of these vets, are they really doing what's best for the animal or just trying to make more money??

I believe that they are doing the braces to keep from having to pull the teeth. Pulling teeth sounds like it would be so painful for the dogs. I guess if I had that kind of money and loved my dog that much I might pay for braces.
