I have had many friends that had this problem and it take almost year for it to heal. What about you? and what did you do to make it heal faster? or just went to doctor?

I had a huge problem with my ears so I'll post this here in case it will help someone. My ears didn't heal for 3 years after I got them pierced. My first pair of earrings were stainless steel. My ears wouldn't heal. I put in 14K gold. My ears did not heal. I tried 18K gold. Nothing. Silver. Still nothing. My ears were in constant pain, constantly oozing out stuff. It was disgusting. I was about ready to give up, when I found 16 gauge glass nosescrews. I bought them for my ears because glass is very hypoallergenic. Immediately, my ears healed. In only about a week! The pain was gone, it was amazing. I couldn't find anything else in 16G easily so I stretched to 14 gauge and bought some Teflon earrings. And then I got acrylic, more glass, and some cool titanium earrings. And now I want to stretch even more because the more you stretch, the more earrings you can find in these wonderful hypoallergenic materials.

When I got my ears pierced, I did try to keep them clean... but I'm impatient ok! One of them got very mildly infected and because I'm a totally sissy the doctor gave me a short course of antibiotics (but I'm lucky with the NHS).Though it would probably have cleared up on its own if I had carried on the applying salt water and didn't pick at it!
