What are your recent realization about your family/parents?

As when we are a child we always look up for our parents. We evn idolized them. But as we grow old we come to realize lots of things about our family and/or parents. Do you recent realization/discoveries about your family/parents? Could you share it to us? As to my part, I just realize a few months ago that my father never really leave us. He may chosen to live with his new wife but he still continue on looking after us. Before I thought that he never gave any financial support for us but now I discovered that he's the one who sent me to college.
