How old where you when you started puberty?

My niece is 8 and her mother thinks she will be starting puberty very soon. Do you think this is to young? I still see her as a little kid. What do you think?

It seems like females physically start puberty now much earlier than they did when I was young. I know of girls that have gone through puberty at age 9 and 10.

Well, I guess it all depends on the child. But that does seem a little young to me but not unheard of. My aunt was 9 so I guess it's just different for different girls.
