Borderline Personality Disorder

Hi Just wanted to ask what your interpretation is to this title?? i always thought i was an alcoholic but i was diagnosed properly for the first time yesterday and they have said that i have a boderline personality disorder. Which i prefer this diagnosis than being alcoholic. But not quite sure what it means, if you can help explain it to me i would be grateful. I'm going to a group therapy to try and build my confidence up again etc and to move forward with my life. Yesterday was the first part of the diagnosis and next week they are going into more depth about it, i just thought i would try and find an understanding before then on the condition
