out of frequency

when i start my computer yesterday i had this message on my screen "out of frequency" and something like 56 hertz..etc, etc..i forgot..and then after some seconds the screen disappers and remain blank... i don't know waht happened..and never knew the solution..i had to reboot my system to run again and lost some of my files as well.. can anyone suggest a solution should this occur next time.. so that i don;t have to reboot again..

you can also check your video card adapter (same process as the previous one but this is under adapter tab instead of monitor) and list all modes, you will see the modes it can support, select the one compatible to your monitor (i.e. 800x600 60hz). I suggest you use 60hz since this is the common setting. If you still get the same error, select 56hz.

Those are called pop-ups. Go to setting disable pop ups, so that you need not reboot the system. Alternatively such programmes can be deleted by checking add/remove programmes.
