Are you afraid to post a disagreement to a discussion?

I am not afraid to it. In fact just now I posted my disagreement to a discussion about the boycott of Beijing Olympics. I don't care whether my responses will be rated negative or not, I just have to let people know the real China and the facts. I do not want to repeat the same words again and again as I already posted similar discussions lately. No matter what, China still goes forward and the Beijing Olympics will be one of the best Olympics.

Hello youless!:-) Calm down my friend, I do know how you feel though! :-) I am not afraid to post my disagreement, youless. I have been to many debates and religious and political discussions here. So, disagreeing and expressing it is not new to me. I do, however, try to be as respectful as possible. I have given my opinions against "administrations" of different countries, not the country itself or the populace. Sometimes people either can not or do not differentiate between them. I have said it before and I would say it again that Olympics should be out of political Arena. But, there will always be those who would like to benefit, politically, from it. Given how nice a personality you are, I hope, nay, believe that you can very well handle disagreement while being still you nice self! There are few countries that have been and are on spot light here, for all the good or bad reasons. China is a great country like many others, so while there are good things, people would also talk about bad things. Just be as positive as you are always! I have always and will support Beijing Olympics!

If I disagree with something, I will respond in that manner, this is a discussion board and if someone posts a topic that can raise negative response he should be ready to and expect to, get contrary opinions and not get upset by them. As for your discussion on the Olympics in Beijing, I think many people will give an opinion based on whatever is in the news, there has been a lot of negative news about China lately so people will just react to these news. Personally I think every country should have the opportunity to host these games, in which it can present to the world the best it has to offer. Every country in the world has good things going for it, so country bashing is not something I feel is right.

I don't care if I agree or disagree with someone in a discussion. If the subject interests me then I will post my feelings or thoughts about it. If someone doesn't like it then so be it. If I only agreed with everyone it would be very boring on here but also I probably wouldn't find that many discussions that I could post to without just saying "I agree", which really is against the guidelines to do. We are supposed to do more then two word posts. If people don't like what I say they are more then welcome to debate with me. I just ask that it stay civil. If it's not civil I will cut it short. Now I prefer a debate where the person is actually thinking and giving strong points and not just parroting others. To me it makes it more interesting when you have to think and actually defend the thoughts behind it not just put the basic sentence.

I sure did. I also found many of the responses interesting as well. I can understand why some are afraid to post to some especially if they have had a bad experience in the past.

Here, here! :o) I post my opinion, whether negative or otherwise. not everything can be a fruitbasket and roses all the time. You have to take the good with the bad; and if someone can't handle a negative opinion or a little criticism every now and then, they shouldn't be posting topics. Now, that's not to say that people should be abusive on here - I think trolls should be banned. But in order to have a meaningful discussion, all viewpoints should be considered; not just the positive ones.

That depends on what kind of discussion it is. If it's just personal taste, there will be no need to challenge others. But if it's an offence to my country and my people, I will not hesitate to post one just like what you have mentioned. It's my motherland. I love and respect her wholeheartedly. Besides, we need to let others know the truth. Maybe they have nevet been to China and do not know about that. But we can tell them. Beijig Olympic Games will be successful!

There are many times I would like to post negatively to a discussion or "tell off" the original poster. There will always be discussions that find a way of irritating you. There are tons of people on Mylot, and you won't always agree or get along with them. Whenever I see a post that irritates me, I just ignore it instead of responding. Not becaus I'm concerned about being rated negatively. My ratings on Mylot don't bother me. I just don't want other people who are reading my posts to think negatively of me. I have, in the past, posted negative thoughts on a forum, and ended up being ganged up on by everyone else in the forum. I enjoyed the forum up until that point, and due to that attack, I never returned. I don't wish for that to happen again.

But when a discussion insults my country, I am unable to ignore it. I try to be nice, but this time it's different. As my style, I discussed it in peace. I never want to insult each other, otherwise it's a fight rather than a discuss. And especially I am standing for a nice, friendly and reasonable Chinese to discuss it.

I understand what you're saying. In a case like that, I probably would too. I actually recently came close to getting quite rude in a post, but I think I held it together well. It is important not to let what other people say bother you, especially if they are insulting your country or culture. Unless they are from your country, then they are not forming their opinions based on facts.

I agree. If they don't approve of these Games, they don't have to watch. We who want to see these games will enjoy them.I am not afraid to disagree, I am afraid of either insulting the person or demeaning their point of view.

Hi youless! No, I am not afraid to disagree with anybody and express my feelings and own thoughts. Everybody has the right to say his/her own views. Besides we can all disagree and yet agree that in disagreeing we could all have respectable and mature ways in accepting the others own point of view without being rude and impolite. With regards to your post about your homeland and the Olympics, I respect that. Nobody can fault you to that. We all love our own countries. We all have the right to defend our country. We are all loyal to our own homelands. And I do admire your loyalty and your love that you are showing for your country. But hopefully, this won't divide us instead we will all try to reach out for one another because we are all living in one planet. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

Hi youless. I like the song too. John Lennon's Imagine is a beautiful song with a very beautiful message. I just hope and pray people will take that song into their heart and act upon it. Maybe then, we will truly care for our fellowmen and peace will reign at last. Take care dear friend and have a nice day!

I like the old saying which goes: "There's always 2 sides to a coin" and I am just never and not afraid to say what is really on my mind with certain issues. I felt that it would give the discussion more objectivity and sense, above all making it more interesting and balance at the same time. Do not think that I am unaware of the repercussions and disagreements as a result. These have not discouraged me but rather the opposite for me. I am aware that certain views just isn't popular or agreeable to the consensuses but we should never be discouraged and all the more let our views be heard and read. We just need to be logical at the end. In view of this post of yours I could not help but to say that you are bringing this up with certain relations to the forthcoming Olympics in Beijing and to that I would just like to wish your country every success. I do agree that politics should never be a part in these Games however, I am just sad that the West being the main advocates of this has now been seen as the main culprit and instigator so far. It is certainly a far cry from the cultured West that I have known and learned. Over time I cannot help but notice the insecurities playing the minds of the West and instead of harnessing and accommodate the rise of China - they are now seen misbehaving in a rather shameful and bashful manner.

why would I? if your opinion have basis then its a good argument. but dont go screaming baseless viewpoints. you'll end up attacking that person on personal basis. if you cant take criticisms then this is not a place for you. substandard discussions involved heated arguments. but know for a fact that what you stand is accountable to what you speak. maybe you you take it personally if your country was criticized. but you also have to know and to remember if the arguments have basis or not right?? about the issue on Beijing Olympics, we'll just have to find out if it or not right? i wont disagree with you over the thing that hasn't happened yet, we'll have to wait and see so that we wont be ending up with the words, "i told you so??"

No, I'm not afraid to post my disagreement when responding a discussion here at MyLot , otherwise it is not a discussion anymore.A Discussion is a way people relate / exchange his/her ideas and opinions on a subject either verbally or in writing . Everyone was born with differences in terms of physically and mentally . So, one should be given a chance to express himself/herself appropriately and objectively. The respondent is advisable not to use extreme word or personal attack related opinions when giving view on a subject. And the poster shall accept openly to views from respondent.

Actually mylot is a good site for us, users to express our thought and feeling here. In my personal view, Olympics Games belongs to all people in this world, but not the country of china only. As the Olympics is going to be held very soon, people from all over the world should try their best to help and support this holy games but not to boycott and destroy it through creating any political issue. Since china has been given a chance to be the host of the game why shouldn’t give her an opportunity to show her capability to achieve it? I sincerely wish the brilliant success of the coming grand occasion.

You're right. I can't tolerate the insult that is put on my motherland. China shouldn't deserve this, and those who give the insult should know come to China and have a look at the changes taken place here. Yeah, China's still a develping countries, problems may exsist, but that doesn't mean the whole China is wrong. We are making progress, and are always trying to right wrong. We need your understanding just as you might need ours. Prejudice will never work out a problem.
