People oftentimes choose to hear one thing and ignore the other for one thing, those things they prefer may be strange to them or that thing alone catches their interest. We often ignore other things which are not new to us because we may find saturations in it...

Thats a good question. Since i am hard of hearing and wear 2 hearing aids. I can pretend not to hear the person if I don't want to listen to them. My saying is "selective hearing"

Dear lekgotla human being is always self-centered . They are listening according to their wish. The thing which they think good is listening by them. They never listen which they do not want/ or they do not like. Human beings are very choosy. They do not think from other points of view. Maximum people watching movies, listening music etc. according to their choice. pkc3000

Hubby and the kiddos seem to have mastered this art..if you find a cure for this dreaded affliction please do pass it along. Me to DS:Take the trash out of the can and go put it in the big can outside. Later I walk to the backdoor and trip over trash.Limping to find DS.. DS!!! Why is the trash by the door? I told you to take it outside. DS:Ohhhhhhh I thought I supposed to just take it out of the can. Maybe this is selective hearing mixed with a lil laziness.

-*as far as i know about peoples minds, people always wanted to hear a positive answer or question or anything.in general people want to hear what they expected to hear.-*even though they heard something of their dislike they act as if they did not hear it.so when ever u want to tell a person something just attract his or her attention, and then approach your topic with positiveness.u will find it will be working.hope i did not offended anyone.

My mother used to call thei selective deafneess, not selective listening! She sore my father suffered from it in that if she asked him to do something he didn't ant to do, he pretended not to hear! It was all very good natured, though and now my wife says I have inherited this trait from my father!

I think it is because people only want to hear what they want to hear and ignore those they heard over and over again.
