cause I'm sick and tired of him going out in the woods and find duck/goose/whatever to roll in. I just gave him a bath last week cause of it and tonite I was calling him to come in when he came trotting out of the woods. I said is it bathtime again and he just stopped and hung his head while slinking up to the door. Whatever it is he is finding to roll in sure stinks to high heaven and I refuse to let him come into the house like that and get that stuff all over my carpets and furniture. -sighs- Time to go give him another bath. Next weekend while I'm at Petco picking up the cat food, I'm also going to pick up either a few sweaters or a jacket for him. I'm not one to dress up dogs but in this case, HE'S WEARING ONE!!!!

LOL--awww...Domingo must really stink...you're sure he hasn't had a run in with skunk? I can't imagine duck or geese smelling so horrible. Don't know why this popped in my mind..the saying cats rule, dogs drool..I don't think a cat could ever be accused of rolling in anything smelly...cats are too dignified...LOL

I forgot to add 'poop' at the end of ducks/geese/whatever, Being he hates bathes so much, you would think he would stop rolling in the stuff. I know what skunks smell like and this was no skunk. It was some kind of animal poop other than livestock. Took a couple pics of him in the tub. lol

I'm just wondering if Domingo has some kind of behavior problem though....I mean is that a common thing with dogs to want to roll around in poo like that?

lol It's not a behavior problem, that I know. Some dogs like to roll in animal poop of various kinds, depending on if they really like the smell or not. Not all dogs do it, thou. Shady, my B. Lab never did it and neither did my husky/shephard cross, Lucky. Dom is the first dog I've ever owned that did this sort of thing. He doesn't do it all the time, mainly in the spring when the ducks and geese can get up our creek bank.

Not if I buy him a raincoat with a hood.
I can just picture him now. To be honest, I really think he won't try to get it off. I used to put dog boots on his feet when we first moved in here after our house was built so as not to get mud everywhere. He never tried taking them off. Soon gave up on that idea when I was tired of trying to put them on him while he was doing the 'gotta go' dance. lol

I really hate dog owners who let their dogs run wild so it serves you right that they will find those great smells to brighten your day. He is thinking it brightens his. Go outside with him, it may make you healthier and you can keep on eye on him to deny him those refreshing rolls in the wonders of smell. I have a Chihuahua that does the same thing, but generally its just bird poop, and he does it even when I am with him until I see him doing it. Also be sure to check on what he barks at, it may save your life. Do not put clothes on him because the dog puts the odor on the area behind their ears which isn't covered by the clothing generally sold for pets.

Uh! Excuse me...my dog doesn't run wild. He is trained to stay in his yard or the woods surrounding us. He never goes to the neighbors cause he knows not to. I WAS outside with him the whole time. I don't leave him out by himself. When he rolls, he gets it on his shoulders and/or back/sides, not on his head or neck. Ducks and geese are birds in case you didn't know it and I'm pretty sure that is what he is rolling in. We have a creek running along the back of our property and they sometimes come up on the bank which is where he is finding it.
