Do you call people just to chat...

Or only if you have a purpose? How long is your typical phone conversation? I usually have a purpose whenever I call someone and I talk for about three minutes.

We have unlimited long distance, all of my hubby's family and my friends are in Louisiana and we are relocated to Ohio because of Hurricane Katrina, so we call and talk to my friends and family often, and it cost us nothing so most of the time they call me and I call them back, sometimes when I am on the phone with 2 of my friends we talk for a hour or more. But most of my phone calls around here are just to make a appointment or to see what happening at my son or daughter's house.

yes it is, I can't imagine not having it, my hubby is so bored up here and at least he can talk to relatives back home, and I can chat with my friends. My cell is also unlimited and talk anytime, I have a friend that bought a new home and she has been going through the whole process with me. It is so much fun to hear her tell me about it.

Isn't the unlimited long distance just wonderful? At least a person has a choice.

Nope, there has to be a reason for me to call some one. To schedule plans, confirm them, accept an offer, ask a favor, share information, whatever. I've tried to pick up the phone to just say "hey" but then I have nothing to talk about and there's awkward silence, and its just weird. I have people that call me to just talk, and then conversations can be any where from 5 minutes to two hours. But when I call it's usually only a couple of minutes.

I really hate it whenever someone wants to stay on the phone for a long time. Not to be rude, but I usually try and think up some excuse to get off the phone!

Sometimes it doesn't bother me, but my one sis usually calls while I'm trying to make dinner, and she just goes on and on about all the things going on in her life. I love talking with her, and being the person she comes to for support, its just usually bad timing. So I do the same, just try to think up an excuse to get off the phone.

i try not to call any one unless it's something important, or something is going on like a birthday or a shower or a big road trip other than that we text each other till our fingers fall off. i know it may sound a little anti social but when im on the go i text and walk that way no one is listening to my conversation.

in my highschool days a few of my friends would do this. sometimes i would call them and sometimes they would call me and we would go on for hours. lol... its actually fun just catching up on other topics, even though weve seen each other that morning. hahaha... its like were attached to the hip. silly i know but its actually fun. but these days, everyone is so busy and everyone is going in all different directions that we dont call each other anymore. and besides, now there is also the internet and texting. i hardly use the phone these days. if i would call for no reason at all i would make sure that the person wouldnt be too busy and is available to talk. but now, in using the phone i would use it with purpose.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to bring back some of our past? Thanks for your response!
