How long do you wait before you mark a best response?

I try to wait about a week unless a post strikes me as totally great right off reading it.

I cant take credit for the idea of waiting a week. I read it in another discussion about best responses and thought that was a good practice to adopt.

That would give time for most of the responces to come in except for the stragglers. Good Idea.

It really depends. But in order to be fair to all mylotters, I will wait until I think that it really qualify for the best response. I think according to the guideline, it's not a must to give the best response. I have selected some best response but not all.

That's right. I face the same issue too. Sometimes, there are so many great response and I am so undecided which deserve the best response. In that case, I would see who is more responsive. Because I will comment on their comment. If they are responsive, then I can continue with the discussion. If there are still more than one comments that meet my best response criteria, then first come first serve basis will be based on.

I generally wait one day, but unless the discussion has more than 3 responses, I may wait an extra day. I don't want to give it too early, because someone more deserving of the BR may come along right after I give it out...

i wait a total of 5 hours after that i mark the best response till that i receive more that 20 responses then i mark the best response also i read all responses once again to select the best and also i watch the comments done by people on that responses in last i mark the best response
