What strange or unusual foods have you eaten or prepared?

I went to a tea house with my sisters yesterday and was surprised to find on the plate along with the small sandwiches, a beautiful rose. The waitress said that it was "organic," "pesticide free" and could be eaten. I tried one part of a petal after my oldest sister led the way by grabbing and eating two or three petals and pronouncing them good. I frankly thought that it was just a little strange to eat a rose. I have had food with rose water in it but somehow eating a rose was just odd. What strange, odd or unusual foods have you eaten or prepared?

I never have tried a peanut butter and mayo sandwich. Have though tried a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. I did not like it but tried it because a girl in school was eating one and raving about it. I am glad that you like your peanut butter and mayo sandwich... I'll stick to my peanut butter and jam. Grins. Thanks for sharing your "strange or unusual food" choices here. I appreciate it.

When i was a kid it always made me cringe when my bro and sis would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They always ate that Then then came out with that jar of stuff they called "Goober jelly". Yukkk! I always ate peanut butter and butter. Really the Peanut butter sounds pretty gross. But it is really good.

I must admit that alligator beats roses as an odd food item. My relatives have eaten frog legs before. You are the first person I have heard from who has eaten alligator. I am glad that you liked it and frog legs too... I will though admit that if you invited me for dinner and served that, I would be looking for the bread and veggies as I would not be able to eat the gator and froggie. grins.

I have eaten and prepared quiet a few strange foods. I have eaten frog legs (not that strange), aligator (really good!), preserved duck eggs (kinda gross, but not too bad if you don't think about what you are eating), cow tongue, cow uteri, pigs feet, pig brains, pickled herring, pickled pike, squirrel, rabbit, rabbit brains, and fish eyeball. I would have to say that the rabbit brains were by far the best tasting of all of the above mentioned foods that I have eaten. The strangest feeling food was the eyeballs. The most normal textured food in my list would be the cow tongue. Once it is cooked and cut, you think you are merely eating a piece of steak. I want to try quite a few other "strange" foods. I think the next one on my list to try would have to be something along the lines of scorpion, pufferfish, or guinea pig (I love "Bizarre Foods" on the Travel Channel! I wanna try everything he does on there!).

I must admit that I would avoid any poisenous fish... and no doubt would have avoided everything you mentioned eating... I thought I was a bit adventuresome but now I know that I am indeed a food wimp, especially in comparison to you. Thanks for posting... try a chocolate covered ant for me.

It seems like so many meat items "taste like chicken" My brother cooked up some frog legs for his family. I must admit that I was glad I was not in his family... I would not have wanted to eat them. I am glad that you are enjoying whatever you eat.
