I think sometimes people fear how others will react if they admit they were wrong. Some people forgive and go on. Others carry it around with them and bring it up ever chance they get. Of course its still best to go ahead and admit you were wrong. We're not responsible for other people's actions but we are responsible for our own.

I don't mind admotting that i am wrong,i will glady admit when i am wrong...Now if some smarty pants is trying to prove a point and holding it over my head to prove a point and if i happen to be wrong and they start saying things like ..I told you so,see i was right...then i might have a problem with admitting i am wrong but not so much because i was wrong but i would resent their attitude....

I think it may be because so many of us have been taught that we must be right to be strong. Being right says that we are the smartest of the bunch and everyone should look up to us. And yet the smart person will always know when to say "I was wrong" or "I am sorry".

Because it humbles us and as a human, we prefer to have pride than to be humbled..

Because to admit to a mistake is to admit you were wrong and none of us like to be wrong!!
I know that I do not like to be wrong, and if I am wrong about something then I almost choke on any apology that I might have to make. I never like to admit that I am wrong, or that I have made a mistake!

It is because the people who cannot admit their mistakes, and that is not everyone because lots of people admit their mistakes, well for the people who can't It is because they they feel that if they admit their mistakes, people will look at them differently. People will not like them, or respect them, or they would have to admit that they are not always right and that is the hardest thing of all.
