In a previous discussion people disliked a picture for a discussion. I have just found out that you can change the avatar for your discussions, just like the way you do your profile one!!
To do this, firstly click on add/edit your interests then find the picture/discussion that you want to change. Just above that avatar there is a little screen and pencil icon along with the red minus (which will remove it from your interests.) Click on the little screen and pencil icon and various pictures will come up and you can choose the one you want and click on it. (You can also upload your own avatar for the discussion!)
Once you have done that, I have found the best thing to do is to click the back arrow at the top. It still saves the avatar that you have chosen!
Hope this helps. If you know an easy/better way, please share!

I have changed one avatar but that was just as a tester to see how it worked! It is handy to have incase you find a avatar that someone has uploaded offending then atleast you can change it for your liking!!

You can also add your own picture to that particular interest and choose that one for your 'default' photo for that interest.
My default photo for the 'dogs' category is a favorite photo of my German Shepherd, Rose, who went over the rainbow bridge last August.
My default photo for the 'cat' category is a picture of Shirley, my calico.
