My faith in human nature is restored, how about you?

Applause for a good samaritan - Applause for a good samaritan, what a lovely person

This weekend my partner and I went away camping in the Snowdonia National Park. We drove up Llanberis Pass and stopped at a view point to take photographs of the mountain. It was glorious up there and we took loads of lovely photographs and then we got back into the car to drive down to the campsite. When we arrived at the site I realised that my handbag was missing. It contained my passport and driving licence, credit cards, bank cards, mobile phone everything. I was absolutely devastated and drove back to the view point hoping that the bag would still be there on the ground. It was gone, nothing there and no trace of anything. I was in tears by then and freaking out, when my partner received a call on his mobile phone from a lovely Welsh policeman to say that my handbag had been found and handed in at Llanwrys Police Station. I droved down to the police station and the policeman was delighted to hand over my bag, intact and even the cash was still there. My faith in human nature is completely restored. Has this happened to you? Have you lost something only to have it found and returned? I would love to hear your views.

that was brilliant pal , you must have been so relieved , I always say there are still some nice honest people out there , Ross our youngest used to go on City link Busses , go to where they were going ., got off had a look around and got another bus back , he lost his mobile one time and it was handed to the driver , I sent a text to it saying that Ross was disabled and his phone was his life line , The driver called me on my mobile and said he remembered Ross and said he would leave it at the local bus station , Ross was over the moon , xx

Most definitely relieved hun, I was in tears and freaking out big time until we got the call from the Police. I felt sick with worry at the time but thanks to a lovely lady, the bag was returned. It is dreadful when you lose things like a phone too, I'm so glad Ross was lucky too.

Hello recycledgoth. I am very glad that you got your bag back with everything intact. But I am sorry that I lost one of my cell phones and even if I dialled and called my own number, the person who had it wouldn't answer, but turned it off. Also I had my wallet stolen at a bus station and I reported it to the policeman, but in vain. So I think that you are lucky to have already got it back. Cheers, friend.

I was freaking out when I realised just what I kept in that bag. Phone, credit cards etc., it's a horrible experience when you lose these things isn't it.

Yeah, I could see how freaking out you were when you lost those in the bag because I also had my cash, bank cards, ID card, discount cards in the wallet. I am afraid that someone is using my ID card to do something against the law. Whenever thinking of this, I feel so worried and scaried, though I have already reported it to the police station and have already got my new ID card. I have to say that you are lucky enough to have got all those things back, which is a very good thing indeed. Please be more careful next time and so it is with me, friend.

I am always so careful, I still don't know how my bag fell out of the car. My partner thinks it must have fallen off the back seat onto the road.

Hello there, sweetie. I do agree that there are still good people out there who are around to helping others. Like for my experience, I was on my way home from work when out of the blue my bike had a problem due to the broken clutch. I was really frustrated and had call for toll service. So, as I was waiting, a kind woman in her 40s stopped and tried asking what was wrong. I told her and she waited for the toll service to come and then she sent me back home. Just like that. I told her that I could call for my friend to pick me up or something but she just shrugged the matter off. I certainly think that there are certainly caring and kind people out there that we have yet to find or come across. I would like to thank Mrs Roberts for helping me out there back then. If she happens to be a member of mylot, then all the better. Have a great day there, my friend.

Fortunately this is not as uncommon as people think, and there are a great number of decent people around. The sad fact is that there are no shortage of the wrong kind of people, which tends to give us the wrong impression of society as a whole. The mention of Llanberis Pass brings back memories for me, it must be 40 years since myself and a friend went there and walked up to the summit of Snowdon.

The break was lovely and the scenery fantastic. I want to visit again in the summer months, when the weather is a little more forgiving, then i can get better photos

I had gone out to base to fill my husbands persriptions and I left the building unaware that I had left my change purse which held my drivers license, my dependent military ID, my credit card and my library card. When I called back there they said that a women had said that since she goes threw the town that I live in she would drop it off. I don't know why the people released it to her but they did and I was livid and worried because it had my important stuff in it. I was sure that I would never see it again. I was pacing in my house worried about it. About a oouple of hours later there was a police car pull up and when I saw the police car I didn't know what to think. As I opened my door he stepped out of his car and held up my coin purse and grinned. He said that a elderly lady had stopped by the station and said that she had knocked on the door and got no answer so she decided the best thing to do was drop it off at the station. I would have liked to thank her but the policeman said she refused to give her name. Everything was still in the coin purse. So yes there are still people who are honest and will do the right thing.

THat is inspiring. I would love to think that it is something that happens more often than not, but I'm afraid it is not always so. Still it's really nice to know that it does happen:):):) I had something like the opposite happening to me a few years back. It's a bit more complex though. My mom called me and told me she had send a package to me. I was expecting it and as usual it was taking a long time. It was not registered so I just had to wait. WHen it finally came, I looked at my mother's writing in the paper wrapping it and opened it just to find out that it wasn't what my mom was sent but a box with reports and notes for a court case in the states. I called the post office and also one of the numbers of that law firm and it seemed that they had received my things while I got theirs. I told them I was going to give it back to the postal office as I had been instructed and asked that they did the same, which they agreed to. Well, I did my part. I send all those papers - important apparently - back to the post office, and away they went but I never got my stuff. It wasn't much the monetary value but because it was from my mom. I called the firm a few times after but sometimes I was told they had been sent, sometimes that they didn't know anything about it, and even once someone hinted that it might have ended up in the garbage. Not nice .

Oh hun I'm sorry to hear that. I truly despair sometimes the way some people behave. At the very least they could have made sure that your package was returned to you.

That's what I thought. I could have kept their stinky court notes too -they could just start everything from the beginning LOL I don't know, it's just that this kind of thing gets me a bit mad .

I am very glad that you got your bag back, fully intact. This world is crazy, so we don't expect good things when things like this happen. But there are a few of us in the world that would do the right thing when it comes down to it. Although they are few and far in between.

In all honesty I never expected to see the bag again so I was truly amazed that it was handed in to the Police. I have, in the past, found a purse in the street and taken it straight to the Police but the cynic in me was convinced that I couldn't be so lucky.

I am happy for you. It is indeed great to hear your faith in human is restored. I would too if I were in your shoes. I had lost my wallet and with it goes the newly withdrawn cash, cards and my keys. I prayed hard the picker would return at least my keys, but no... the wallet cannot be found even in the bins.

I love to hear this type of story and I have had a few of my own! The one that sticks in my mind most though is when ny son found a wallet in the street stuffed full of money and cards which he handed in at school (he was on his way there when he found it. The school secretary checked inside the wallet and found contact details so phoned and let the owner know what had happened - he duly arrived to collect it , did not even say thank you - just that he was surprised some young yob was honest enough not to keep it and walk off - great example to give huh? And they say kids are rude............

What a horrible person hun, without even a shred of common courtesy. I was always brought up to believe that you should always hand in a bag or wallet or at least attempt to contact the owner. These days, it seems, this happens rarely. Your son should be commended for his actions, not ignored.

That is how I was raised too sweety and that is how I raise my kids - they don't see handing something like this in as doing something special , just doing what is right. I was really angry at the person for the way he acted as you would think the least he could do was say thank you - he obviously wasn't raised very well! xxx
