hi tekka44, i love oil paints but never really used them outside of school. it takes so much time setting up and putting them away. i stuck with acrylics throughout the years because of their quick drying time and are less expensive than the oils. recently i started to paint a lot in water colours. do you paint portraits? i like to paint the human form in an abstract way. i remember oils as also being frustrating, i could work a painting so much everything ended up grey or a nasy brown!

Hi shannonjyl. I agree with you, acrylics have quick drying time and are less expensive here too. I used them many times also, but I love oil paints. I think that oil paints seem to have more luminosity and more expressive. I like to paint human form and animals also but not in an abstract way. It is a curious thing that I like abstract paints but can not do that. I have the paint in my mind when I put it in a painting what a miscellany! I still in a classic way. Sorry if sometimes I do mistakes with English because I'm not a English speaker, I'm from Brazil. Anyway, what I write is understandable (I guess). Have a nice day, shannonjyl and thank for your response.

i like oil painting a lot... i do not do that but one of my friends does them and he also takes part in the art exhibitions and earns handsomely to live with his wife and kids..he is a arts major and ... let me tell you one thing that very recently he made one of my portrait. it was so nice and lovely. some times at his place he tried to persuade me to do some of the paintings but i did try but it was not my kind of job.
he asked me after seeing my diagrams in my biology note book..... well diagrams are something different and oil paintings are something else.
