African Chiclids

I have quite a few african chiclids in my 50 gal tank. In the last month I have lost 2 of my chiclids What happens is they go to the bottom of the tank where they just lie on their side for many days. Sometimes if you disturb them, they will get off their side & swim for a while but then go back to the same way again on their side. Does anyone have any idea what my problem is with my fish? Thanks
