My husbands sister is (was) a lesbian. She was in a relationship for 5+ years. They have a two kids together. They never married but are not split up. They have each filed warrants against each other. Now they want to rent a condo together. One live on the top floor with the kids and the other live in the bottom half. I am worried about the kids. The fighting is very bad and violent. Is there anything that I can say or do to help her out? I know I should just stay out of it but the kids are so young. (5 and 3) The situation just isn't right.

Just be there for the kids, maybe let them come visit you some. That is a terrible situation to be in, but only your husbands sister can change it. I think I would try to have a talk with her, because the children do not deserve to be put through that kind of thing.

Is the sister choosing to longer be gay? I see nothing wrong with the plan to get a place together, but if the children become stuck in the middle of arguments I would call CPS and have them placed with another family member unti they can provide a safe home for them.

If they're not split up, why would they live apart? It sounds like they want to be close by for the kids, which is good, but they must stop fighting.
