My inlaws were unfair to me today

Today I met with an incident wherein my inlaws were unfair to me..They always influence their son and talk ill of me. I never fight with them..neither I'm so attached to them..I behave normally in a neutral way to avoid problems. They always criticise me. But in front of my hubby, they behave good. But today they were literally abusing me and I could not tolerate it.They were telling their son that they are his world and he should obey them..I do not know why they expect this?Why should a married man adore his parents? Why should not he love his wife?
