This morning I was reading a discussion and heartily agreeing with most of it and thinking "what a good idea?" as well as beginning to formulate my reply...you know how it goes...multitasking inside our heads.
So, there I was, when all of a sudden I spotted another discussion at the bottom of the page with a discussion about something else....but related to what I was reading and thinking about...so I think "Hmmmm, I'd better read that one first" so I clicked on it, read it, read the responses, laughed, thought about it, commented on one or two responses, clicked to go back where I started from and my first discussion I was reading was GONE!! And nothing I did lead me back to it. I searched high and low and ...zilch, nada, zip, zero, nil, nothin'.
What I remember was the posters name. I believe it was "hiccup".
Do any of you have him on your friends list please?
OR....can anyone tell me the way to find a user who is not on your friends list?
Has anyone wasted a lot of time, and energy and become frustrated searching like this?

Poor Ms Tickle that must be so frustrating and irritating for you! I usually open up multiple tabs and will usually have around 10 discussions open on the page at any one time so I rarely 'lose' discussions that way unless I accidentally close the tabs! I hope you find it again and that someone with more concentration than me can give you some good advice! xxx

Oh no!
I hate when that happens to me. I usually check history or if it was something I got to through a email then I check trash to go back and get it. Usually I have learned that if I find something else I will copy the shortcut to the discussion of the one I want to check next and so then all I have to so is paste it in the address bar and go straight to it, well hope you have better luck next time.

It wasn't an email or anything that would be logged in the history file. It was a discussion in the lower section of the discussions page. They change all the time. Even if I had done that, the page would have changed. I DID find him and answer his discussion. Thanks for your ideas. I'll give it a try next time I need something like that.

I see that others have already told you how to find him so I won't bother going into that again. I've done that loads of times though, got distracted by something else and then gone back to respond to something and it's gone. It's not too bad if I can find it again but it's when it's been deleted for some reason that its annoying. Or even worse if I've just finished typing my response, hit submit and then the message comes up saying this discussion no longer exists lol! That's happened a couple of times.

I haven't had that happen though I'm sure it does happen but what I get rather a lot is that I'm typing away in an extremely inspired fashion and when I check...everything is fine so I hit "post comment" only to find my session has dropped out...I'm on dialup. Why can't there be a message that says ....."your connection has only 2 minutes to go, finalise what you are doing so as not to risk losing it" or something? Isn't that smart, couteous, thoughtful?

yes same here, if fact I started this discussion sometime back on something similar as I found it so irritating and absolutely disgusting that after having formulated a long answer in my mind and typing in in a Word dox, I could not locate the discussion. At least you remembered the name, I did not even notice that, I was so engrossed in my own answer. Well as you know by now, just type the person’s name in the search box at top. I did not know this back then, but now I am very careful as to whom I am replying to.

I am really so sorry that this has happened to you. I usually write my responses to the discussion and then look if there is anything similar if I have time to do it, but I never lost it. It is odd when you went back you couldn't get to it though.
