YouTube Musicians: Popular Songs or a Little More Rare?

I like to play songs that are just a little bit more rare. Not songs that are very rare, but not the ones that 20,000 people already made videos of. Someone told me I'd have a lot more views if I played some more popular songs. I tried it to humor them, and found that the more popular songs actually did worse because it is so hard to find them on a search since so many other videos come up ahead of mine. And I generally don't do anything to promote my own videos so that people would find them without searching. But to me, YouTube isn't a popularity contest. I'm more excited if I get a comment from a YouTube musician that I respect than if I get 1,000 views on the video. Especially if I get an inspirational comment or constructive criticism that helps me improve. So what type of music do you play on YouTube?

hi pigglies, is that screen name anything to do with Guinea Pigs? I couldn't tell if it did or not. If not, than i'm sorry for the mistake! I love music! I love all kinds of music, and i watch it on Youtube all the time when i'm not on here at Mylot. Besides listening to the old country songs that were back from the 70s, and 80s, i love listening to the 80s rock and soft rock music. It's a blessing to be a-watching them all on Youtube. I never did think that they would have all that much. Cheers to a happy Lifestyle!

Hehe, yes it does have to do with guinea pigs. :) I rescue guinea pigs (they get taken out of shelters, I foster them, and then they get adopted). Occasionally, my guinea pigs end up on YouTube as well. ;) I love old country songs too. I'm always amazed at the variety available on YouTube.
