What are the most interesting information I have read in this book, it's the fact that all architectural description of old pieces saved from the old times are true that's accordng to Dan Brown. I am interested with the location, the detailed description, how does it looks like including the history of how and who was the original maker. Other than that? there's nothing else. Can you ask me now if my belief had changed when after reading and watching the movie? I will still say "NO". I may not be a devoted christian, I may not go to church regularly but in my heart stays a true GOD that I know. You see friends, during the time of Jesus He was sentenced to death because of telling the truth and bringing into the whole His peace and Love. The light that Jesus brings to the world cannot be leveled, so what's the heck? why are they questioning Jesus again? Is it wrong to have a wife? is it wrong to father a child? Are we trying to bring Jesus into question again? or shall I say, are we trying to crucify Jesus again? Think about it my friend, what is Dan Brown illumination? what is he trying to illuminate us?

I doubt if changing anyone's beliefs was Dan Brown's intention. He read the various theories about the Holy Grail and Jesus' relationship with Mary Magdalene, and just decided he could craft an entertaining thriller around the idea. I don't personally have an opinion about whether or not Jesus was married and had kids, nor do I care. Like the average James Bond novel, "The da Vinci Code" isn't meant to be anything more than what it is - a fast-moving, reasonably entertaining thriller loosely based on an interesting historical theory.

I could not say anything about this book because i have not read it. But i have seen the film. For me, it is difficult to understand the conversations of the characters, no mention to understand the religious purpose of the film. But I really heard many critics about the book and film. Obviously, the book concers on religious and many people are against it. Even the goverments of some countries ban it. But I think everyone has right to express himself, even his points about religion. Your spiritual faith would be different than others', but you can keep your faith as well as allow others to keep their own.

You are right, we have different beliefs but we only have one Teachers who has great knowledge. But our faith is meant to be deceived, destroy or corrupted so we need extra support to keep us standing in times like this. Who do we turn to? It's Jesus.

THe edition of the Da Vinci Code that I have has a statement that says this book is fiction. The issue around the Da Vinci Code is that people take it for truth when Dan Brown was just telling a story. It would be like people believing the story of The Poe Shadow where Poe killed himself. (I'm not sure of that truth, but still it's a story).

I have read the book firs and then watched the film much later. What attracted me was not the facts or fiction that surround Jesus. Its but the secret societies, religious organisations, Chalice, Knights of templers that have enticed me like anything. Its just a story told in a historical background and the narration is so true that we are made to believe that its a true incident! That the beauty of a good story teller. I do not want to go into controversy but I loved the book just for the way it was told and not to forget the authenticity of the vivid descriptions. Thanks.

i remembered some of my friends are scared of reading and watching "the da vinci code". they were told that it sort of an anti-Christ blah, blah! watching or reading it would make them question their faith? i always tell them that the book is not for a fainted heart and a doubtful believer. if a simple book can make you question your faith, then just leave the book alone. informations in the da vinci code are well researched. if there is any basis on it, i would say that dan brown took a lot of guts and a lot of judgment from Christians and Catholic Church. this became so controversial that they tried to ban the movie in the Philippines, where citizens are mostly Catholics. personally, i still believe in God. it never made me question Jesus as a Savior. as a matter of fact, it would made my faith in Jesus deep even more if there are any truth to Dan Brown's fictional book. like you said, is it bad to have a wife? or children? Jesus when he came to the world is a man. a very powerful and controversial man. but still a man. he obviously must have fell in love, got married and have children and there's nothing wrong with that. this book is not to be taken seriously nor lightly. questioning your faith is not the author's fault. It's yours!

I don't think the purpose of the book was to make Jesus less a saviour. I think it was a fictitious novel illuminating all the various secret "religious" organizations that have been started since Jesus was crucified, and twisting them into a tangled tale of intrigue. I found it a griping novel, but it didn't change my core beliefs in the least.

This is a great one of browns, suspense and mistery. I like all his collections and its highly fictious.
