We haven't had anything resembling a garden in some time. But the last time we grew anything garden like it was peppers. Habanero peppers to be exact. And they were for eating. My sister in law planted them. My husband watered them appropriately. Then he ate them. They were to spicy for me.

I always grow some salad veggies. Nothing better than a 100% organic salad picked fresh from the garden. It is also gratifying to grow your own food. I KNOW there is not lead paint in the food I grow. I don't know what is in the cans at the store. Nor do I know where it was grown.
The US imports too many things from other countries. Medicine and food are 2 things I do not want from China. Therefore I am seeking property so I can grow as much of my food and medicine that I can. I want to be 100% self sufficient.

The only thing that will grow well on my land is herbs. I have one huge rosemary bush. I harvest the new growth and dry it for cooking or for infusing in oil to put in soap or salves. I also use the dried rosemary to put in pain pillows. Sometimes I infuse the fresh rosemary in apple cider vinegar for a hair rinse.
I also have peppermint, parsley, thyme, spearmint which I use either fresh or dried for cooking or to flavor tea.
I'm really longing for a veggie garden. I'm trying to amend my soil enough to at least grow some beans, greens and squash. I try every year, but so far no luck.
