Are you a hand holder?

I can remember years ago when my hubby would hold my hand. I thought it was sweet. As the years wore on it stopped and I really didn't mind. It seems when one hand is being held you need it. Or if the hand holding is done when walking you have to time your pace and swing or it is really awkward. I don't like to think that hard when I walk. I was watching an older couple walking down the street today holding hands and it made me realize I am no longer a "hand holder" type. Are you a "hand holder"?

Yes my husband and I hold hands all the time, when we lying in bed watching a movie, when we're out walking with our daughter even when we're sitting here watching tv. We've been together for 4 years, married less than one, but I don't think it will change.

Know that I think about it I think it is a nice thing to do and maybe I should reach out and start it up again.

I hope that it goes full circle and when we are old and frail we will all start to hold hands once again.

oh yes... i am definitely a hand holder type... i always ask my hubby to hold my hand whenever we go shopping or taking a walk together... it feels really nice knowing that somebody is holding your hand and for me, my hubby also protects me and prevents me from falling down... so it is great... fortunately, my hubby is also a hand holder type and is always happy to hold my hand...

Maybe if I took up hand holding with my hubby again he would stop walking ten feet in front of me!

I am but my Husband isnt so much of one. He holds my hand with his arm bent like he is trying not to break it. Over all it is just sort of weird. I fix it and over time he pulls his arm right back up. I wish I could draw a picture of it. There is no way to really describe it.

Yes I think I am still a hand holder. Every walk we take doesn't have to be a handholder as it seemed to be in our younger years. Some walks are for exercise and that doesn't really co-inside with hand holding. When we go out for a nice evening walk we tend to both be hand holders. I say both because I am not always the one to reach for the hand.

My hubby is more of a bum pincher, I think hand holding would hurt less! I think I will have to hand reach to prevent that in the future!

Thanks for the topic! You have make me smile :) I've just realised my partners and I still hold hands these days. Yes, we even hold hands when we do our grocery shopping. I think it's a sweet way to show your affection to someone but also something little you easily forget.

I will be holding hands and I'll have the other hand full when the nose will itch then you have to wonder if you will insult him by letting go. It is just too much for me to deal with!

My friend was mentioning the other week how her parents who were in their 80's still held hands while watching TV. He passed away the other day and I thought how lucky he was to have had such a loving marriage.

I am no longer a hand holder. It seems like I don't care to hold hands - I like the use of both my hands too. Now when we're hiking, a hand up is always appreciated, but then let go please. You know what I still enjoy though is holding a little child's hand and walking with them - that's the perfect hand holding for me.

I often need a hand up while hiking! I don't mind so much holding a child's hand because they are shorter and I don't have to hold my hand in the air.

I used to hold hands with hubby but now adays I am much more busy with the children. I do hold their hands when walking or doing shopping, because they are still small I am afraid they will suddenly cross the street or something like that. However when I am alone with hubby we do hold hands once in a while, but not as much as we used to.

I guess sometimes I still hold hands with him but it seems the longer we are together the more we seem to take each other for granted. It is nice that sometimes you remember to still hold hands.

I like to hold my husbands hand when we are out for a walk. I feel it shows how much you care for a person. I love to see older couples holding hands. I think it is so adorable.

When I see older couples walking hand in hand I think how sweet it is that after all these years they are still in love.

Yup, I'm a hand holder. So is my boyfriend apparently, because even if I don't initiate holding hands with him he would just do it with me. I think holding hands is a second nature thing to us as well as hugging while walking sometimes. I have had a talk with him though, about holding hands after we are married. I told him that I notice couples (who seem to be married) don't hold hands much, but I have seen a few who are and still do. I told him I always want to be holding hands with him no matter how old we get and he agrees it is a nice a loving gesture. I think it's so sweet that the old couple were holding hands!

It is a nice loving gesture you are right about that. Maybe I should give hand holding another chance.

I'm a hand holder, definitely. My boyfriend and I nearly always hold hands when we're walking anywhere, even if it's only down the road to the shops or something, or walking round the supermarket. I think holding hands is very sweet and a simple way of showing your affection for your other half.

I was never much of a hand holder when walking. But when we would drive, he used to take my hand and hold it against his heart, or kiss it then hold it against his heart. When we went out or at home and sat next to each other we would hold hands, but not for walking. I missed it when it faded. But I can see how it kind of faded and drifted. and be ok with it.

The thing I hate about walking and hand holding is I am kinda short and have short arms so if I am walking and holding hands I have to keep my arm elevated the whole time and add that to my short legs and slow walking pace we run into trouble....

No, I am usually not a hand holder with my husband. Though there are those rare occasions that we still hold hands, even after being married 13 years. It is more important for me to hold my kids hands, when needed, compared to my husband and I holding hands. As sweet as it may be holding hands between partners, my husband and I can show affection to each other in other ways.

I used to be a hand holder. My hubby and I used to always hold hands when ever we walked anywhere. We don't do it so much anymore, but sometimes if we go to the zoo or to a park we will still hold hands. I love it when we hold hands but sometimes we are so busy we don't think about it. It used to be a habit for us, but I guess some habits do die. We will have to be more conscience about it and do it more often.

Yes. We are hand holders. Most times you will see us link hands as soon as we get out of the vehicle. No matter where we are going. We have been together for 18 years and still love to hold hands even if we are just sitting watching tv.
