Is your bedroom relaxing?

Do you find it easy to go to sleep in your bedroom? Is it set up to be soothing? Or is a place of activity with music or tv going til the wee hours? We have a tv, but it gets turned off after the evening news.

Yep its easy to go to sleep in my bedroom. The set up is not like a hotel set up with those dim lights. We have one fluorescent light, a ceiling fan and an air cond in the room. We use the ceiling fan mainly and rarely switch on the air cond....can't remember when was the last time we on the air cond. There's not really a need to cos we sleep with windows open and we live on the 9th floor so there's cool breeze blowing in at night. No tv or music in the room. If my husband wants to watch late tv....he's in the living room.

My bedroom is crap. If I were to go on one of those "home renovation" shows, I'd want my bedroom done before anywhere else. There are no doors on the storage spaces above my closets (we're doing good to have trim around the doors). The walls are plain flat white, so the least little thing shows up horribly on them. The window trim is RIGHT ABOVE my pillow, so I think I have a permanent indentation on my forehead where I bang it in my sleep every night. There are clothes and books and empty water bottles all over the floor (I know, right? What's a married couple doing having their bedroom looking like 12-year-old's?). My bed has no frame, it just sits flat on a hardwood floor. I have the same bedroom suite that I got for my 13th birthday. The floor squeaks if you look at it funny, so if one of us has to go pee in the night, it wakes the other one up. Not to mention, my son only sleeps in his own bed for a little over 1/2 the night, so I have tiny feet in my ribcage from about 2-8. But our rent is only $450 a month for a 100-years-old, fairly large 3 bed/2 bath house, so what am I complaining about?

Right at this very moment, my bedroom has a couple of boxes and tools in there that don't belong. We had things in there from my daughters room while we were painting hers and it isn't all put back just yet. But, before that my bedroom was the only room in the house that was mostly put together and had nothing in it that didn't belong...no excess furniture, no clothing laying around, nothing under the bed, etc. The only thing I don't like about the room (aside from the fact that we need new furniture) is my husbands bedside lamp is one of those daylight lamps- it is bright and ugly. We have really nice table lamps for in there but I haven't bought lampshades yet. No tv...we removed the tv from our bedroom about 7 yrs ago and never looked back. Well, ok, on the rare day I am sick in bed it would be nice. :) So, all that to say yes, my bedroom is typically relaxing and serene.
