Baby naming

I just discovered today that my cousin & his wife had a baby boy yesterday (they have 2 girls already & he has another girl from a previous relationship). The problem I have is that they named their son the same first name as my son - I think this is wrong & am a little angry about it - especially since they live in the same district as me.
Nobody around here has the same name as our sons and I liked it that way. Does anyone else think this is odd or wrong or am I getting upset over nothing?

My son was born on 3 of april and we gave him the name Viktor it has a peronal meaning to us because of few reasons. 1 it has my and my husbands initials, 2 it is sil=milar to my fathers name, 3 the meaning of the world has a sagnificant meaning to us and 4 his cousin started calling him that when she heard we had a boy and no one knew of what names we liked.
Anyway on the 9th of April my husbands cousin gave birth to a boy and guess what she called him VIKTOR boy was I angry I was actually crying (it happened too soon after giving biths so I blame the hormones for that) but out of trilions of names she chose the same as my son. I find that in poor taste to be honest I dont care if the name is john I dont think that 2 kids that will be close in life and so close in age in 1 family should have the same name. You have every right to be angry. (sorry about the long post but I am trying to tell you that you are not the only one)

thanks for the best responce. it was 5 years ago that my son was born so even after 5 years I am not over it to be honest. But more because they are so close in age 6 days apart.

I can understand being annoyed, but really, they didn't do anything wrong. Everyone has the right to name their child whatever they choose. If there is a bit of an age difference then there shouldn't be any confusion. There are some names that are repeated in my family, and it hasn't been an issue.

No, they didn't do anything wrong - they have every right to name their son whatever they want, it just seemed odd to me that they would name their son the same name as mine (the father's cousin) when we live in a rural area in the same district. It isn't a family name at all (from the past anyway, I guess it is now), but I will try and forget about it I guess.

I think most of the parents think that they should keep special and unique name for their babies, If I would have been in your place I might have felt the same but they have all the rights to keep what ever the name they like for their baby....we cant say any thing to them , dont keep any thing in heart just be casual with them .

The biggest form of flattery is copying. So in my opinion if they picked the same name, they just thought you had an amazing name idea and wanted to use it as well.
I don't really think that it should be a problem growing up. I come from a large Italian family, where every other person is named Joe and Sam and nobody really seemed to get them confused. I can understand your anger, but I'm sure everything will be fine and will all work out :)
