Hey guys! Help me Discuss how our friends here can benefit from Open Source. Let me start this one: Open Source means a software that we can to use/reproduce without any charge. Clearly we can download it from the net and install it to our PC. 1.Instead of using Windows, we can use LINUX as replacement. Check out www.ubuntu.com for a free copy 2.Instead of buying EXPENSIVE MS-Office, Y NOT TRY DOWNLOAD Open Office 2.2? Similar and COMPATIBLE to each other, and FREE! go to www.openoffice.org This two are the most in need software nowadays. Now its up to you guys...

It's not really difficult but a matter of familiarizing. We've been using Microsoft for way too long that's why

I am trying to use maximum open source softwares. Like i use Sun Micorsystem's Open Solaris Developer's edition. And Ubuntu. Then OpenOffice is as good as the MS Ofiice. Apart from that you can se Zipgenius or winRAR instead of WinZip to sip and Unzip your files. You can also use cutePDF writer for the converting ur files into PDF this works with any software and is obsoltely free. Then we can use J-Developer edition which comes with all UML diagrams support as well java plus oracle whixh is also available free for use. There is more than one software available for every software that is in market. But using linux is bit difficult. As we mostly used to windows. If you are using linux no need to download any zip software or whatsoever.

I like Open Source cause i can change a program and also not have to pay for it most of the time. I like the help u can get as a new programmer. I like Blender because it is a solid 3D/game engine.
