I have not heard this myself. I know nothing of rice (in whatever form) that makes it a diuretic. there are a lot of foods that are: such as tunafish, asparagus, cranberry, lemon, grapefruit, tea, coffee etc.

Infact I am not so sure of the puffed rice and it causing lots of urination. But what happens is when you are eating puffed rice, either the plain one or the little masala added ones, it makes you drink lots of water, and thus it results in lots of urination is what I think. Regarding cumin seeds and water - I have an incident to quote. It was very hot summer, that year we were in a town where the heat is very high comparitively, and my daughter was just 8 months; she didnot urinate for almost 2 days and still she didnot urinate much except for her early morning one. So we took her to doc and doc said it is normal for most of the kids as this town is very hot. While coming back, our neighbour, a very old lady enquired about our visit to doc and she asked me to boil water with cumin seeds and chill it and give it to doc. Just half a glass gave the result and her system got ok. From that time on, every summer, right from the march, we all at home or atleast the kids have this cumin water.
