It just keeps getting worse and worse--the FLDS mess

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iIdMpRHjN4hpNKBhfYyAsR4DDo4QD90CB9I00 Now they're finding children that have had broken bones and also that boys have been sexually abused. It was awful enough before, but breaking children's bones and abusing the boys?! I'm afraid to find out what other kinds of sick things this sect has done. Anyone who injures a child, sexually or other ways, should be shipped off somewhere they can no longer have contact with anyone. I cannot imagine how sick one has to be to harm a child.

OMG...you mean, they're actually like the rest of the world! I'm sorry, and this isn't against you, but officials are really just picking these people apart trying to come with any excuse possiblle to justify their actions. Kid fall and break bones, it happens in even the best of families and doesn't necessarily signal abuse. Boys getting abused...yes, it's sick and wrong but lots of Catholic boys get abused to but you don't see the governement gathering all of them up too. And their teenage girls are getting pregnant!? Well gee, so are a lot of girls who aren't FLDS. The difference is the FDLS girls are married...yes, I said married. I don't care what the laws are, their religion allows it and I always thought our country stood for religious freedom. Ok fine, remove children who are legitimately in danger. But it is so wrong to destroy entire families just because of a few bad apples. Look at it this way...what if a pedophile, a child abuser, and an accused rapist all lived on your block/in your apartment complex/in your small town...would it be right for the state to gather up all of the children in the area, including yours, just in case?

I have no problem agreeing to disagree. I do think there are a lot of things wrong with this group, I just think the state has also been quite unfair. It's a hard case and some children should be removed but I think the officials need to concentrate on actual endangerment not just differences in opinion about religious doctrine.

I know it's cruel of me but I believe what was done to those children should be done to those in turn who did it to them. A punishment of jail time is not enough sometimes to get the point across. I can't even imagine what those children have been through.

I agree with you. It's pretty sick. I'm reading ESCAPE, by Karolyn Jessop, a woman who managed to escape the FLDS, with all 8 of her children. It's really amazing what that woman and those children had to go through.

She is so amazing! And continues to help those women escape those horrible places. I read today where the appellate court ruled that Children's Services were wrong to seize the children. I haven't read the law they made ruling from but I can't imagine leaving children in that situation.

Oh, you are right! Really sick to hard any child especially hurt them that bad. My heart really breaks when a child have to go through with that. I wish that sooner, those people would stop harrassing minors!
