Hello, My fiance was born in Germany and hasn't been back since he left (early 70's). He would like to go back within the next 2 years I'd say. Has anyone here ever been to Germany? Is anyone here from Germany?

I've never been to germany. but my father was born in hungary, and resuced by general patten in munich as a young boy. the city is now beautiful, and the language is close to english. i can speak some german from being a musician. i heard it's all built up now since that long ago war. i would love to go to europe. it would be a treat/ also the euro is now worth more than the dollar, so maybe quality of life would be better, everything might cost less than , well southern calif, which is now mexico now anyway. here's the word for thank you. danke seine. and goodbye wiederseine. note , a hughe amount of americans have german surnames even if not from there.

Yes, I have been to Germany a few times. The first time I went there went to Koln and climbed to the top of the cathedral where I saw a beautiful view in 1990. I went to Munich in 1992 where it was snowing and the city was covered in white. I went to Trier in 1997. In 1999 I went to Bamberg, Nurnberg and Regensburg. I liked it very much in Birchtesgarden and enjoyed walking in the surrounding mountains. I enjoy seeing the attractive architecture of the Tudor half timbered buildings and the stunning River Rhine and the pretty River Danube. The mountains in Bavaria are stunning, in the summer and even more so in the winter. I hope that you will go to Germany with your fiance one day soon.
