http://youtube.com/watch?v=vLuMWiQ6r2o I saw this on tv allot of times today. This morning they read everything he was suppose to say but didn't. I am not sure how he meant for it to come out or if this was in the back of head or not. I just think it is blown way outta proportion. He fought in the war himself also but bush is gonna milk this for everything it is worth.

He is a war veteran, but...why dont you do some research on his comments about his fellow soldiers when he came home from the war in the early 70's. He didnt support them and called them baby killers etc. I am sorry maybe his statement was blow out of proportion but he has done this kind of thing before...

They just said on the news that he said it was to be a joke.
Even if that was the case, I still think it was in very, very poor taste. Our troops are putting their lives on the line for us and our country, joke or not, nothing like that should have ever been said.

It was supposed to be a joke about President Bush's C average in college and was a play on a joke Bush made when he told group of Yale students a joke to the effect that the A & B students should be congratulated for their good work but said that there was also hope for the C students as they could still become President of the U.S. That was funny first because it was told right after Kerry and the Press had made a big deal about Bush's C average and then someone got a hold of Kerry's college records and showed that he not only had a C average but his percent grade was 76% while Bush's was 77% showing Bush to be the smarter of the two.
Kerry's attempted joke was that if you don't study an just scrape through you could end up like Bush leading us into a mess in Iraq. However, Kerry not only missed the punch line but most people have forgotten the big deal in the 2004 campaign about college grades and, finally, given Kerry's overall distain for the military and the Democrats failed attempts to successfully link Iraq and Vietnam, the whole thing came off as an insult to the men and women fighting in Iraq.
Kerry needs to get in touch with reality and also, a new speech writer would help.

I can't see what the big fuss is about, it's true, even if it's been said in a commical sense.
Most recruits are from poorly educated regions and most feel the Army is the only way to escape, they're taken as soldiers and shipped out to war.
What is so controversial?

I think from now on, he needs to read all of his Speech, and defend himself and his thoughts more. This is a little Crazy what he did. He is going to make the American people and the Military be glad he did not win the Presidency, and might have hurt any chances for Running again.

John Kerry didn't belittle the troups in the least! He made a comment, which, by the way, this is AMERICA or was the last time I checked and he has the right to say anything he wants! I personally saw a neighbor kid wash out of school to have the military as his only option - and he ended up in Iraq! If it didn't happen, that would be one thing, but it does happen.
