Plants, herbal remedies, traditional remedies, and medications we use...

Aspirin was made from white willow bark at one time. Digitalis was from foxglove in the past. Do you know the medicinal uses of any roots, flowers, or leaves that grow in your area? What are they? Do you ever use herbal remedies for good health? Do you use tradtional remedies from Chinese or Indian doctors? Or do you just use medicines that come in bottles and are prescribed by a physician in the more Western approaches? I have grown feverfew and know that it is good for headaches and fevers. I have grown mint and know that it is good for stomachs after meals. I have used ginger for that purpose too. I have used cinnemon to reduce the effect of milk on the body as milk is cooling and causes mucus and cinnemon is warming and prevents that problem. I also have used salsa as a remedy for physical pain. I have used olive leaf extract and have used tummeric too instead of antibiotics as the last antibiotic I used, K-flex, caused me to have a severe skin rash that lasted for many weeks and also other health problems. I do not have health insurance and find that the natural remedies, especially the things that I can find in my kitchen, work just as well often as the commercial western style medications which I cannot afford to purchase. I wonder about you and about your experiences... What herbs, herbal compounds, traditional medicines and/or Western medications do you use? What has worked best for you? What do you trust more?
