I was brought up always thinking that poems have to have rhythm and rhyme so those that go like proses sound weird to me

Simple as the question is, i find answering it quite hard. Personally, I like any poem that penetrates and touches me within. Whether it rhymes or not, is a haiku or a sonnet...whether or not it conforms to any rules of poetry is secondary to me. I had read once that the thing about great poetry was that it touched the reader at an emotional and spiritual level. And most things that are so basic to human nature seldom comform to rules. They are hard to rationalise and categorise. I am confused and I know it. Ha ha... but seriously, you got me thinking.
