I have heard mixed comments on ebay, most people i know that use it say it's good, but i saw a television programme saying it can be risky. What everyones views/experiences with it?

I have been both a buyer and a seller on eBay for a number of years and feel that it is a safe as most auction sites on the internet, probably safer than most. So long as you use your common sense and check out the seller's feedback and stick to your maximum price, then you should be fine.

I agree, I've never had any big issues with ebay. I'm a seller, and I keep track of all my items I have had problems with 2 buyers though, but the best thing to do is wait for payment before sending anything. Definitely check out the feedback before bidding on anything. No one's perfect, but seeing that they respond to negative feedback with a responsible answer is something to take into affect too. Hope you enjoy ebay, I do.

Abolutely, I have bought and sold on ebay more times than I can count. I have not had a single bad experience. My only recommendation is to be sure you read the listing very carefully to be sure you know what you are getting. There are great deals to be had. If I am looking for something in particular I always check ebay first. Go for it!

I have never had a problem on Ebay. I am a seller and a buyer. If you don't have a paypal account, you can still pay by electronic check or credit card as long as the seller allows it. Good Luck

Like anything else it is only as safe as the amount of common sense you apply. If you are a brainless idiot running rampant then you are liable to get scammed. Use you intelligence, think before deciding, and use the safety tools available ie, PayPal and you will be as safe as if you were in a mall shopping or at a flea market selling.

You just need to find somebody with a good reputation and you should be fine. You can look at the sellers reputation by what people typed about them whether it be good or bad.

Hi There. Welcome to mylot! Well, Ebay is a good website for second hand devices that is really works but at times, there are really some devices that doesnt' work once it is shipped into us. I believe that is the risk of it. I work as a tech support and some guy sell his router to one of our customer. When he got it, it will not lit up at all. I feel bad for the client since that the device is not covered under warranty since 1)second hand device; 2) the device itself is 4 years old and not covered under warranty at all.. so that is the risk.

In my opinion it's safer than manmy internet sites. Ebay is well established and their Paypal payment system is probably the best on the net. If you're buying/bidding on items, check the sellers feedback. I watch out for new sellers, that sell high ticket items, right from the get-go. If they don't take Paypal, steer clear. Any big-ticket item, I pay with my credit card through Paypal. That way I have double protection from getting ripped off. As both a buyer and former seller, I have never had a problem getting paid or getting my merchandise...but do research the buyers and sellers, check their feedback (I prefer sellers with a feedback rating at 99.6 and higher) Good luck to you!
