I need a boost in my program

I have been working out for about a month now. My goal is 5 days a week but sometimes I miss 1 day. I have hypothyroidism and am trying to get that under control, loose a bit of weight and just feel better. I've been taking my meds like I'm supposed to but am still feeling sleepy at lunch time. I go to bed at 10pm (should probably work on getting in bed by 9am) and I wake up at 5am and I'm at the gym by 6am. I do 20 - 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and I really work up a sweat going an average of 6mph and burning no less than 250 calories every morning I'm there. Once I finish my cardio I have been alternating days of doing upper body and lower body on the machines but since I've discovered the free weight room (I'm excited about this now) I need to get a new system in place. A lot of the people there alternate days for cardio and weight training. Like one of the guys does Weight Training on Monday Wednesday, and Friday and does cardio on Tuesday and Thursday. I'm thinking about something like this. Here's my problem. When I decided to join the gym (I've joined others in the past and failed terribly) I made the decision of going with a mind set of doing it to feel better and not focus on the weightloss part. When I pay too much attention to the weightloss part and I don't see results then I want to quit. Well I've been doing good because I haven't quit yet. I do feel a bit better (aside of being sore from pushing myself in the free weight room) but I'm still getting sleepy in the middle of the afternoon. Do you have any tips on how to really get the most of my workout and how to stay awake and alert at work throughout the day?
