the book...?

Because I love the film so much, do you think it would be unwise to read the book? Usually this is the other way round... I'm not sure. Has anyone read the book?

Hi! I have seen the movie and I liked it too. I didnt know there was a book. Well, anyways, I would advise to not read the book unless you really want to. I think they are a bit different and the book is more complete but when you like the films why ruin your'e impression by reading the book? I saw the Memoirs of a Geisha and I saw the book. I saw that the book was really really thick and the writings are very very small that it was not very appealing to read it. Good thing I liked the movie though because otehrwise I would be really interested to read the whole book and see for myself. I guess they are of the same storyline. If you are looking for a heavy drama book to read or two then you should definitely read the book. I jsut dont have patience to read such thick books when I liked the movies. You're theory of being unwise to read. Well, I guess it really depends on the story. The only book I know which is better than the movie is most definitely the Harry Potter series. The movie is nice and all but the book is more complete and you get to understand more. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks is a really close second. I got to read the book first before the movie came out and I saw it. So, I think it what would be wise is to read the book before the movie ever comes out in theatres. That way you get to enjoy the book and see your imagination come to life in the film. Hope that helps, goodluck!^_^

Ahh see now I've both seen and read Memoirs of a Geisha and I must say you've GOT to read it! I watched it first and loved it, and then read it and loved it EVEN more. Honest. Because the book is written in retrospect so she adds hindsight views in there which add to the feel of the story. I totally agree about Harry Potter though - I outright refuse to watch the films lol! thank you!

OH! Wow! Youve read th whole book?? Those tiny little letter and those hundredsa and hundreds of pages?? Dont get em wrong I love to read but somehting about the feel of the book didnt appeal to me. Dont know what, maybe tis the cover or maybe it was the color of the pages, it was already a bit old and frayed. I jsut browsed through it. Sadly, I dont know who has a copy of the book anymore. It was in the library at my high school and I cant really go back there. Since you highly recommend it, Ill put it on my list of books when I have the chance to book shop. Thanks for your opinion and recommendation about Memoirs. Ill give it a go when I have the chance.^_^
