If you have another language (asiode from your native language, of course) that you wanted to learn, what will it be and why? Mine would be Spanish, though my native language is mostly derived from Spanish, I still wanted to speak Spanish fluently. I think it's the most commonly used language next to English. I'll still be able to communicate with a wide range of people with it.

English is my first language and the only language I know fluently. If I had to choose a second language I would choose Spanish as lot of people in america anymore only speak Spanish and sometimes I would love to know what they are saying.

Though i know couple of languages apart from English like German, and Japanese. I would love to learn German. I have been fascinated by this country because of automoble technology. My ultimate dream is to visit this land of Hitler and and many other historic places as well as educational institutes. I would love to take my higher education in Germany so i want to learn German.

I've always wanted to learn how to read and write Mandarin, but I'm not entirely sure of my reasons! I think it started of by wanting to learn how to write Chinese as the characters are so cool and very artistic, so I suppose the interest grew from there.

I agree. I would love to learn Spanish. Actually I homeschool and that is the language that we are working on. My son and I are having a lot of fun learning it. I actually understand more spanish than I can speak. If it is written or someone is speaking it slowly enough I can usually understand but I never seem to be able to think of the words to say in order to speak it. I suppose understanding it is more than half the battle.

I would really like to learn French. I think this goes back to my school days. French was the only other langugue that I had the chance to learn. I was very ok with the very basics but couldn't cope when it got harder. I did sort of enjoy learning french but was always in the bottom set for french, and only got a grade 5 CSE. Have visited France a few times, last time 10 years ago and I had to ask where tesco's was. I got by ok but it would have been nice to have asked properly rather than Ou est tesco. I have no passport and have no plans to go aborad until children older and more money coming in the house but really like to relearn it as it was also the first other lang that I sort of learnt
