Nearly 7 1/2 months after its chief executive said there were no plans to cut the number of its core retail stores, The Home Depot Inc. announced Thursday that it is shuttering 15 of them amid a slumping U.S. economy and housing market. The move will affect 1,300 employees. The stores to be closed consist of three in Wisconsin, two in Ohio, two in New Jersey, two in Indiana and one each in Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York and Vermont. This is sad. It's hard enough to get a job these days let alone keep one. Do you know anyone losing their job? Or having a hard time finding one?

Meaning that they probably had plans to cut stores when they first denied it. Sigh. Honesty.

Wow. I'm actually pretty scared right now about this whole situation. It's unbelievable that stuff like this is happening. I mean my mother still hasn't found a job and I'm doing everything I can do to make some extra cash. Because if she doesn't find a job at least I'll have a few bucks in my paypal and bank account to buy food, only the necessities for us. This situation is getting worse by the day and everytime I hear about something like this it makes me sad. So many people that are losing their jobs and having to worry about how they are going to feed their family. The US cannot go into recession! It's a scary thought. We seriously need to do something about this.

I don't know any one losing there job but I do know a few looking for one. My husband and I were talking about moving back to Fl then I heard there were NO jobs. I heard that Olive Garden (a resturant) was hiring for 1 position and 200 people showed up to apply!!! I have a freind that is looking in that area for 4 months! Needless to say we are going to wait to move lol. Here in PA we both have great jobs and I see a lot of people hiring still. I guess every one will have to join me here in Pittsburgh to find a job lol!

This points out again that a we are in a recession. Home Depot is closing stores they are not making enough money to keep all of them open this puts alot of people out of a job who will then not be able to feed their families. Every time I turn on the news I hear of another factory or business closing it is really getting bad. Something needs to be done.
