I have some friends who send me some emails that are jokes, some are okay, and others I can really get a good laugh at. I often wonder who thinks these jokes up, especially the really funny ones....as there is quite a talent in this. If I am emailed or told a joke, I am never able to remember it fully if I had to tell someone verbally the joke, and the critical part can be the punchline, and if you forget that the joke is useless! Do you ever wonder who makes these jokes up? How long it takes them to? Such talent!

Not keen on the ones about someone who has passed away though, especially in the early days of their passing, but even they are still pretty good if you can get past the sadness and see the humour in it which at the time is not always easy. These people who make up these jokes are clever, and I think it is a talent for sure.

These days mummymo a good laugh is the best remedy and can change the mood very quickly, so a good joke is very much appreciated!

I am envious of anyone that can think up a good joke. I am more envious of those that can repeat a joke and get a laugh out of it. I fail at both.

I too have trouble repeating a joke and usually when it gets to the most important part, which of course without that, the joke is a no-joke after all.

I would think that most of those jokes are written by professional writers who write for comedians as a living. There are a lot of them out there. Every funny man on television like "David Letterman" could not come up with a joke if his life depended on it. It is all written for them. When the writers went on strike in the US... all those shows were taken off the air... because the hosts had nothing to say for themselves. They need the writer. So the way it works is that someone hear the joke, post it on the internet... and from there... it is free for all. Good jokes get send through emails from friend to friend... and in no time... half of the world know about them.

Who ever does them Aussie they do them well as I have had some very funny ones that I straight away can pass them on knowing the reactions my friends will have. Nothing like a good laugh to start or finish the day, hey!

No, I have never thought of that, I don't think my brain works that much any more or it never worked that much to start with.. I just get them, read them and if I laugh out loud, I forward them.. I am just as bad on a punchline to a joke, my hubby usually takes over mid joke, because he knows that I will butcher it.. Some of the jokes are really funny and make me laugh out loud and gives me a boost mentally.. But it is someone so very much smarter than I am to make these up..

DonnaLawson, you would be talented in other ways as I am sure I am. lol But those that put these jokes together it is an art in itself....I think so anyway. Like you, I can never say the joke all the way through, and usually end up saying..."or something like that" but the importance is the punchline which is the part I usually forget.

There really is no "person" who makes up all the jokes. Each joke is made eventually. I've recieved a few prank emails myself. One email contained inappropriate information so i had to spam that user.

Yes I have had some inappropriate ones also and they still find there way in, but the funny ones how they put them together amazes me!
