Adoption Help?

My husband and i are going to be adopting a child within the next 5 years. However, we are debating whether we should adopt internationally or locally. There are so many pros and cons to each that we are unsure which we would prefer. I have also heard so many horror stories from both sides; those who travel overseas get ripped off and end up spending $20,000 more than expected. People in the US say that the birth mother has tracked them down and demanded her child back a few years after he/she was put up for adoption... On one hand adopting overseas would eliminate the possibility of running into the birth parents, but adopting locally would eliminate much of the cost. We have big hearts and want to offer a child a loving home, but how do you know which way is best for you?
