At Five O'clock This Evening Came The Announcement We Dreaded...

... Leeds United are not going to get their deducted fifteen points back.
If they'd managed to win the hearing and get these points back, they would have ended up second in the League, and gained automatic promotion, but it was not to be... I didn't expect it, because Leeds have been marked for a few seasons now, but there was always a glimmer of hope.
Oh well!! We shall just have to fight tooth and nail against Southend, it would seem, in the Play-Offs. I don't relish that game, as Southend beat us more often than not. Just the same... we could just pull it out of the bag. I sure hope so!!!
I'm gonna be off to find a pub with Sky TV, and watch the game!

Aw no Darkwing that is a shame! Mind you as you say there is still a glimmer of hope that Leeds will win and if not well there is always next season! Stirling Albion were promoted at the end of last season and are demoted again this season but we just have to hope that next seaason they will begin to get better results and get the team stronger and who knows what will happen in the next few years! xxx

Yes, we can always hope. The club needs a boost to get it back onto its feet properly.
Awwwww, sorry about Stirling Albion. I'll be listening out for their progress next season, in the hope that they get back up. It's difficult when teams lose their status, because they lose their better players as well, and have to be rebuilt, and trained to play together as a team again. Not easy, my friend, but like you say, there's always hope.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your contribution. xxxxx

Very true - but that is all part of supporting a smaller club right? I have to say given the circumstances i think the Binos have done well - all the players are part time and hold down full time jobs too so it can't be easy!
Good Luck against Southampton my dear friend - enjoy the game! xxx

Yes, although I didn't expect them to get the points back, I always hoped. They've tried so hard this year, and deserve to go back up, but I suppose we must remain optimistic that they can get one over on Southend, and thereby gain promotion from the play-offs.
Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

Thank you, my friend, but it's ok... we never did really expect them to get the points back. It was a bit of a high hope. We just have to remain optimistic now that Leeds can beat Southend, and gain promotion back up into the Championship that way. They've fought so hard this year, and would have made it, no problem, without the deduction.
That's the second season on the trot that we've had points deducted, and so unfair on supporters. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend.

It's always the supporters who suffer in football and I wish clubs would get their act together and run things properly. Still all is not lost. so good luck in the play-offs.

Thank you my friend. I won't lose hope until the final whistle of the play-offs, I promise!
I think football is run primarily as a business now. It's sad to see, but you can't wonder at the supporters being disgruntled with what goes on behind the scenes. There are a lot of politics surrounding the Leeds team and their ground, and I think they've done very well to finish where they are, with a fifteen point deduction... their sixth.
Thank you for your contribution, my friend, and Brightest Blessings. Onward, and upward... I hope!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Darkwing. If nothing else do enjoy your evening out. It makes me laugh when we get together and watch footie or rugby on the tv - we all shout, scream and generally make such a fool of ourselves when we watch games like this!
Take care and I may be booking those tickets to the UK soon! PS I haven't seen that article yet... :(

Ooooooops, I'll go and send that now. I think I'll be away from about 26th May to 30th. I was hoping to go 24th to 31st but everywhere down that way is booked for the Bank Holiday.
Yeah, we all jump up and down and scream and shout. I suspect it'll possibly be on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The last play-off they had was Sunday afternoon, but we'll see. Thank you for your support my friend and Brightest Blessings. xxx
