There is an international treaty that prohibits this, but it only applies to those who sign the treaty. Even if Sudan and other countries did sign the treaty, it takes will power to enforce it. The UN cannot even get troops into the Darfur Region of Sudan to stop the genocide because they need the Sudanese government's permission (you know the ones commiting the genocide) to enter the country. So, if they won't let the UN in to stop genocide, they won't let the UN in to save the child soldiers. BTW, the US is not a signatory because we want to be able to continue to allow 17 year olds to enlist. To me there is a huge difference between a 17 year old joining with parental permission and a 10 year old forced into the military.

i agree with you, there is a whole world of difference between a 17 year old signing up in the army and a 10 year old being FORCED to take up arms and saying goodbye to his mom, family and friends and unfortunately in most of the cases this is forever!

that is a sick sick thing.a child is like a small rose bud that should be protected and not crushed.the people who cause such things to happen should be bought to justice.

Sadly, if the child is being forced into a military, Mom and Dad have usually been killed by said military and his friends are being forced to join up with him. His little female friends are brought along too. You can just imagine why.

I don't think we can do anything to help. You have to think about it...that's thier way of life. Yeah It's wrong and so sad. No child should be exposed to anything like that. But Also think about why we should worry about another country when our own has it's own problems?

Like I said that's their way of life I'm sure their parents send them off to do it....I live in the UNITED STATES and you have to be 18 sometimes 17 to join any military branch....No, I wouldn't want my kids to be sent off to wars or to fight...I don't think it's right! And like I also said this Country has to many problems of it's own to be worried about another Country's

it really is not a question of who lives where but rather what can you do? and no one's future is gaureented.to care for others, fellow human beings it is not necessary to live there.ref:the nazis genocide against jews. the whole world watched what happened in germany and then came to thier rescue,so it really does not matter that you are here and that they are there!

The International Criminal Court will hold a hearing on November 9 on the charges against Thomas Lubanga Dyllo who was a leader in the Congo War. He is charged only with using child soldiers, not any other war crime. This is a HUGE test for the new court. We shall have tosee how they handle this case.

It is bad and it is not fair. But on the other hand if we all don't help and do smth about it then there wont be done a thing. We all should stop making and thinking about war. and especialy STOP making war. But there the interests are too big. Everything is about money. And as long as we don't have enough money to pay for their freedom... there's basically nothing to be done.

Revenge leads revenge. This is main issue in Sudan/Africa. The people there are so aggressive that they are pushing even the children in country's war. In future to come, there may paucity of male members as the most of male members are engaged in war from their childhood. The only way left is now peace, peace and peace. The world community must try to solve this problem through peace. Military add is also necessary upto some extent. Financial add must be improved. Poverty is also one the reasons of African countries problem. Weapon supply in open market has lead easily availability of small weapons to common people. They are investing their income on purchasing weapons resulting into loss of many lifes. Lack of adult member in society has led the engagment of small children which must be stopped. Good and free facility of education, eradication of povery, bane on supply of weapon to the open market, making of small groups in society to educate the people etc can be of help to solve the problem of Africa.

i would like that as well but unfortunately that would be too utopian for it to become real.anyway i honestly hope that what u have just said not only becomes a reality but becomes one very soon!
