What a strange ritual this is......

A naked baby girl is dropped from a 50ft tower - in a 500 year old ritual supposed to bring her luck.
Parent's throw their crying tot's off the edge of the muslim shrine to be caught on a cloth sheet by worshipper's.
Devotee's believe the bizare ceremony will bring good fortune and good health to the terrified youngster.
This is an annual practice that take's part yearly in the village of Solapur, Western India.
The social service's would have a field day if that happened in the UK.
Are there any Indian myloter's who have taken part in this ????

WHAT?!?! OMFG!!!! Thats just insane!! I'm sorry I couldnt give a flying *beep* how much luck it "may" bring my child, there is NO WAY IN HELL I'd let ANYONE drop him or her off a 50ft freakin tower "in hopes of" ya know..thats NUTS!! on so many levels that is just WRONG!!

It was terrifying I watch that last night in the new. I wonder what happen to that child after maybe he got broken bones or even a brain damage you know in that very young age it was not yet develop. Hope that nothing bad happen to that poor child.

I wonder if the child did brake a bone, or even worse die if they would still think it was lucky.

If she survives that experience then I suppose she could be said to be lucky! If anyone did that to an animal in the UK they would be prosecuted! If it is a ritual then there must have been many babies who have survived it, or it would have been stopped long ago. Maybe the child is no more frightened by it than any other experience when it is so young. But who knows?

I dont think a child would ever expierence those same feeling's, emotion's and fright from any other situation.

I can not believe that they allow this to happen! anythign coudl happen to the child! anythgn what so ever! this is dangerous and i think that if peopel know this is goign on should be tried to be stopped. they need to come up with soem other kind of ritual! less damaging to the child that is beign thrown! coem on gusy this is the 21st century , we know rituals and stuff liek that doesnt truelly work!
