your life now

Compare your life now to what you thought it would be as a kid. What job did you think you'd have as a kid, and what job do you have now? Is your life all you expected it to be? Or is it different, but just as good? Or it is nothing at all like you thought. Where there things that got in the way of your dream? Things that helped you get to it?

Hi stacyv81! When I was a kid, I wanted to be a doctor and that is very far from what I am now. I was not able to take up medicine because it was expensive for my parents to send me to medical school and at that time there are no student loans. I took up Management and Industrial Engineering instead, then worked for awhile and then I became a successful businessman. And now, I am just a plain housewife with no income of my own. I sometimes feel bad about this but there are good reasons why I have to just give it all up then. Now, I am looking for another opportunity that might come my way so I can once again earn my own keep. I have so many dreams when I was a kid, some came true and others have just stayed as just dreams. I do have regrets but I don't lose sleep over it. I am happy but I know that I can be happier that is why, I am not stopping until my new dreams will come true. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day dear friend!

There is nothing wrong with being a plain housewife with no income of your own! The role you play is important! But, good luck with your plans. I can understand the need to move on.

I won't go into all my dreams and aspirations, but if you had asked me even 5 years ago what I'd be doing now my answer would have been totally different. Nothing in my youth pointed me towards the way I've come, so it's been as much of a surprise to me as to my family and friends. However, I'd not change where I am now (apart from perhaps have some money, which is a pretty major stumbling block to moving on). I wonder sometimes what I'd have been doing now if I'd taken a different stap at some point along the way.

Sorry, that should read 'a different STEP'. I have this vision of parallel universes, where there are little mes playing out all sorts of different versions of my life!

I'm generally happy and live independently to my dad but I don't have a job due to sickness which gets me down as I never planned that. I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up but so far have never made any money from it apart from on sites like this and I can't support myself from what I earn on here sadly. I hope one day to find a way to make enough money online so I can work from home and not have to claim benefits anymore but it's easier said than done.
