Hello friends and fellow myLotians! I had my wisdom teeth pulled today and am home now. I have too much gauze in my mouth right now which sucks because every time I have to remove it and put more in, I gag. LOL! But, thus far...there is no pain. There was a little discomfort until my first dose of pain meds which I took about a half hour ago.
So, all is well and I am looking forward to not having to keep the gauze in my mouth! LOL!
Thank you for all of your encouragement before my surgery! You all were really helpful! And, it was just like you said. I have no memories of any of it. All I remember was the nurse saying "Good Night!" The doc telling me I would feel dizzy and lightheaded but that would be normal and I started to feel it pretty quickly, I said, "oh yea...I can feel it" and that is all I remember until someone said my name and told me I was done! Love that stuff! That is the best sleep I have had ever! And, I did dream, but, I can't remember what about.
So, I am glad it is all over with! Thank you all, again, for all of your encouragement and calming words!

I am glad that you came out of the ordeal no worse for the wear. Didn't I tell you that would be the best sleep you ever had!!! How woozy did you feel when you woke up? I know when I had mine done, I had to roll my head around to the other side to get it there. My head felt very heavy!!! Now remember, you have to keep the gauze in until the doctor says its okay to take it out, don't be hard-headed like me!!! And no hot stuff, or straws!!!

That I am glad about. It didn't take me long to not need the meds either, although for the first couple of days I still took the meds at the regular time, just so I wouldn't have any pain. If I would have monitored it, I probably could have gotten of the meds sooner. I was just so scared that the pain would come with a vengeance, since I didn't feel anything, I watched the clock instead of monitoring the pain. Oh well, no worse for the wear, except the incident at Kings Island.

Hello there! I am happy to hear that you are okay after your wisdom teeth has been pulled out. The discomfort is normal but it will be over soon. My wisdom teeth are still in the process of growing but it is starting to hurt. I hope I can be as brave as you when I have surgery to get it out (if their presence bothers me).

Thank you! And, I don't have any pain today and haven't had to take any pain meds to manage any pain since my 2 doses yesterday! Yay!
And, as soon as yours are fully grown, you should get them removed whether they are bothering you or not. Mine weren't bothering me but, all three of them have had cavaties filled and they were finally just breaking down because they are so hard to reach with a toothbrush that they weren't getting properly cleaned so, it was just best to have them removed before they started an infection in my mouth or something. They really are useless teeth and you should have them removed. Trust me...the surgery is a breeze. I didn't feel a thing. And, I am not suffering any ill effects, except maybe the taste in my mouth, today! LOL! Thank you again!

Sorry that I couldn't post my reply. Well I think myLot was down yesterday. I tried to connect via Opera, Firefox and even Internet Explorer and it said "website not found"...grrr. Anyawy I saved my reply to your other discussion so you can enjoy reading that. Well, you're right that stuff is so good. It puts you right to sleep, and you don't feel anything. You really have to have someone drive you because I was so sleepy. Anyway, yes I had to have that stuff for about the whole day (gauze) cos they were bleeding a little bit. The oral surgeon gave me prescriptions for some mouthwash and Vicadin (I believe that's how it's spelled). It was for 20 or so I think...anyway I really didn't have too much pain for too long just the first and second day. You have to watch what you eat those first few days, and follow what they say to do...not drink from straws...eat your milkshake with a spoon. Really I don't think it's a big deal unless you're allergic to the anestia or have heart problems (spelling?)...then they won't give it to and you'll have to be numbed the regular way and be up the whole time...luckily that didn't happen for me...and I got to be put to sleep...yea!

Thank you and, I am glad I don't have any memory of the procedure too! It is weird that it was going on all while I was totally oblivious! It blows my mind a little to think about it! LOL! And, I am taking care of myself today. I am just relaxing. I don't have any pain at all today and, I didn't even need to take any of the pain meds since the 2 doses that I took last night! Yay!
And, I sure am cared for here! I am very grateful to everyone here for showing me such support! It does and has meant a lot to me! Thank you again!

I am glad the procedure went well for you! I had my wisdom teeth out less than a year ago. I did fine for the first couple of days, but then I ended up getting dry sockets. I do not smoke, but I think I tried to eat normally too soon. Just be very careful! If you do end up having pain beginning in the third or fourth day (I can't remember how long), call your doctor right away!!

Thank you! And, thank you for this info. I am not in any pain at all today and, I haven't needed any pain meds so, if I suddenly start feeling pain, I will definitely go see my doc. And, I won't be eating anything that I can't swallow without chewing for a few days because I am very afraid of loosening my clots. That is the only thing I am afraid of at this point. So, it is soup for me for the next several days.
Thank you for the advice. I will be even more careful than I already was being!

Thank you! And, you should definitely get yours out as soon as you have enough money for it. It is a breeze. You won't feel anything while you are under and, while the gauze is annoying, it is only for the first day, my last gauze change was about 8:30 pm give or take some time. And, the pain meds managed the pain, if I even would have had any. I am in no pain at all today so, no pain meds today!
So, do get it done ASAP. I can't believe how simple it was. You build it up as this scary thing in your mind and, afterwards, you will laugh at your silliness! LOL!

The gauze was only a temporary annoyance. And, I only took the pain meds that day but, I am not even sure I would have needed them since I didn't need them at all the day after my surgery. But, yes! They did well to help me sleep! Really well. LOL!
You should get yours removed. Since they are causing you pain right now anyway, you should just get them removed and be done with it. The pain you are feeling now while they are growing in might last longer than any pain you will feel when they remove them.
My doctor did put me to sleep to remove mine so, I was totally unaware of anything while they were being removed.
So, go get yours out! You will not regret it. Don't give them a chance to become any more of a nuisance!

Thank you! LOL! I do feel a little less wise since I lost 3/4 of my wisdom. Of course, I guess I really lost all of my wisdom since I only had 3/4 of what the average person has since most people have 4 wisdom teeth! LOL! So, I am 100% less wise! LOL!
And, I am pain free today! And, not because of pain meds. I didn't have to take any more past the 2 doses I took yesterday after my surgery. Believe me, that is a weight off my shoulders! Yay!

Ouch this discussion makes my mouth hurt because I have a wisdome tooth coming in and it is coming in crooked! I have had it come up before and it went back down again so I hope that happens.
I hope where you had your wisdom tooth clots soon so you can take that yucky gauze out of your mouth. Hope the pain meds help too. Get feeling better soon.

Thank you! And, my advice is that you go and get yours pulled. There is really nothing to it! If I could handle it, trust me...it was a piece of cake and you won't have to worry about yours coming up and going down.
And, I am pain free today so, no more pain meds after the 2 doses I took yesterday. Yay!

Hey I am glad to hear that you came through it ok!! Brilliant, and no pain either that is even better. I think that being put to sleep is just the weirdest thing ever!! I try and beat it for as long as I can, but you just cannot and it is ace how you just sleep and do not feel anything. I hate waking up though after, I always have a bad reaction to the anaesthetic, the first time I was really sick and so the next time they gave me meds to stop me being sick but then I suffered with low blood pressure instead,so after my hysterectomy I slept solid for more or less 48 hours because my blood pressure was so low. I just could not wake up. Glad you are ok though, and I hope that the pain stays away for you.

Thank you! I was worried about the anesthesia but, I had not problem with it. It was so weird though because I remember it hitting me and I told them that I was starting to feel it and, that is all I remember until someone woke me up. So weird! LOL!
I am sorry to hear that you have such a hard time with it. I have heard that people don't tolerate it well which is why I worried. Hopefully you will never have a reason to need it again.
And, it is weird to be put to sleep and have no memory at all of what was being done to you while you were out. I just can't believe that they were in my mouth for that time and, I didn't even know it was happening. LOL!

Im sure the dental assistant and doctor told you this at least a dozen times, but meake sure the gauze is wet when you take it out of your mouth. Even if you have to drink a glass of water with the gauze still in your mouth.
I know that sounds incredibly gross, but one of the worst things that can happen is getting a piece of gauze stuck down where it is healing. Ill spare you from the more disgusting details, but putting the clot out is very bad. Hopefully they gave you medication to help you feel better, hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! And, they didn't actually tell me that. They told my hubby to have me replace the gauze every 1 hour until the blood lessened to a shade of pink. So, by the time the hour was up, each one was saturated with saliva and, well, blood...sorry to be gross. So, fortunately, even though we weren't told to make sure the gauze was wet before removal, it was and no clots were pulled out.
I don't know this for sure but, I may not have needed the pain meds yesterday but, I took them every 6 hours as instructed, which amounted to twice, and I woke up pain free today so, no more pain meds. I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it all was. I was terrified for nothing, really! LOL!
