All mothers out there, what time does your hectic day start, does it start with.

Does your day start off with a bang, really full on or does your day start gradually, by that I mean get up, have a cup of tea, make yourself and kids breakfast? Well my schedule has changed now that I am a stay at home mum. My day starts at 6am in the morning, I get up feed the baby, then she usually goes back to sleep for an hour or so. Then my 3 year old wakes up around 7am I start making her breakfast. My 12 year old daughter, I wake her up around 7.30 am, so she can get ready for school. I am lucky she is pretty self sufficient she prepares her own lunch and helps herself to breakfast, I like it that way as she is very responsible now. After breakfast is prepared then I start cleaning the house and doing washing of my Mount Everest of clothes washing. When I was working and I only had the 2 children my morning was even more chaotic, everything that I mentioned above apart from feeding the baby (did not have baby then) had to be done but in fastforward mode x 100, lol. Plus I had to get my 3 year old ready for daycare and be out of the house by 7.15am, ready to drop her off to daycare then go to work. So now that I am at home with the kids this year it is still busy but not crazy mad, lol. So tell me how does your day start off..............

Good idea sitting on the couch for 30 minutes, giving youself a chance to wake up properly. I should try that, rather than starting full throtal every morning, lol. You sound like you have the right approach with no set routine, working your way through the day, enjoying it with friends and family.

We are very laid back here. My kids get their own breakfast and when I get up I make my coffee and sit down at the computer while the kids get their schoolwork done. Housework and other chores are done throughout the afternoon. I like to have everyone up and going by 10 or so...but I do not work and we homeschool so I have the luxury of not needing to follow a strict time clock. I could probably use just a little more routine and schedule than I have, but it certainly isn't hectic! lol

I like the sound of that, laid back household. I wish my household was a little more laid back. Homeschooling would be a full time job though, how old are your children. Don't know how you do it. I am a teacher and I know how demanding teaching can be, but it must be pretty satisfying knowing you taught your kids.

I get myself and my youngest up at 6:45 so we can meet the school bus at 7:30, but after he leaves I usually have some quiet time to myself. My oldest is homeschooled due to poor health, and she often sleeps much later, so I have time to drink my coffee and check my email and livejournal each morning.

Wow, homeschooling your daughter would be a full time job. Lucky you have some time to yourself first, then you are ready for your day. You definately have a busy day, take care.

Well, I get up about 5:30a.m. to get two of my kids up and ready to go to their pawpas for breakfast at six. they get on the bus at 6:50. Sometimes I'll lay back down, till my two year old gets up which is about 8:00. If I don't go back to bed i'll work some on the computer. After the baby gets up, feed him, clean some house. eat lunch, get my husband up and out the door at 2:00 for work. Then the kids come home from school at 3:15. make sure they get their homework done, go to practice or a game. If no game, cook supper, eat, showers, brush teeth, and then to bed. whew!! It doesn't seem that busy until you break it down. lol. It was harder when I worked outside my home.

Your day sounds pretty busy, it is hard when you have a little baby and have to get everyone else ready too. Hope you find some time to relax. Have a great day.

I get up around 7am, get washed and dressed and then try and have a quick coffee before getting my 7, 6 and 2 year old up. I make them breakfast and then get the 2 boys school clothes ready for them for after breakfast, then I get all their bags ready with their lunch in and dress my 2 year old, then I take the 2 boys to school. After that depending on what the day is, I may have to go into town to pick something up and then we come home and I tackle the mornings cleaning, then if I am lucky I may get an hour to do what I want with my daughter until it is time to go and pick the boys up from school again.

My, my, have i learned so much from all the replies. I have actually posted a question similar to this. And i thought i was some hyper-normal stay-home-mom who is on the verge of breaking down. Now i realized that what i do everyday is just fine. I wake up at 7, when my one year old wakes up. Have coffee while i feed him, and checking emails at the same time. Then my two year old wakes up at 8. Feed him, then bath the two together. 10am, they play, i write. 11, my one year old takes a one hour nap. I grab something to eat while i continue to write. 12, i sit and play with my boys. 1pm, i let them watch tv (in between 10-1 is potty time, snacks, laundry, dishes and "refereeing" time for me in case of baby fights) then 2pm is their afternoon nap. That's MyLot time for me, until they wake up at 5pm. I fold clothes, cook dinner, sterilize bottles, and clean the kitchen, bathroom, playroom and bedroom - thoroughly - until 8 or 9pm. That's about 3 to four hours father and sons bonding time because i can only start doing chores when my husband comes home from work. Then we have dinner, bath the boys, then bedtime is 10pm. From 10-12, we talk, watch tv, or he uses the PC while i bake something. We sleep at around 12. I am always exhausted, everyday. My two toddlers are really a handful.

Mine starts off with a bang as soon as the shower wakes me up. I get up about 5:30am and then I am in the shower and after that I get to cleaning and if the cleaning is done then I sit for a bit before I wake my 2 and 3 year olds up for the day. I usually don't go to bed until sometime between 9 and midnight. Their bedtime is at 8pm though so that helps some.

I get up at 5.50am, let the cats out, put the pc on, boil the kettle and come have a good read of forums and on here until about 6.30am when my husband comes home from work. Then its making packed lunches, sorting clothes/washing out and doing breakfast. 7.30am I wake my twins up and they get up, other son gets up at 7.45am. Then its busy busy getting children washed, fed , dressed , washing up, teeth cleaning to get out the door for 8.35am. Come home, have a quick rest before I either do jobs or start work as I work from home via telephone.

From what I read, you got a very busy but fulfilling life as a mother! I admire your 12 year old and I admire even more the way you trained her. Good job. How blessed you could be for having 3 children. You see the Lord said, "children are heritage from God", and so you have already 3 beautiful inheritance from Him.! Going back to your question! My day starts at 6:00 but the first 30 minutes to one hour is always spent with God in prayer and devotion. After which a fast preparation our pack-lunches as I prefer to really prepare the food we eat myself because I am health conscious. And while I am preparing lunch, my husband and my son would do the washing of clothes and watering of plants, cleaning the car and other household chores. Then at 7:45 we all would run to the car to go to our respective places of work. After office, it would again be a fight against time to reach home as earlier as possible. At home I would again take charge of the preparation of dinner while my two loved ones would watch TV while folding the dried clothes and do some sweeping and cleaning of the living room. After dinner we always do some sharing and ends with family prayer then we normally go to bed at 10:00. Indeed it is also a very busy day every day for me, but I enjoy it and I make it a point to thank God for it.
